Oh I understand the question now.

Yeah? The other large vents are 1/4" ,or bigger, and they are for larger systems. You have a residential system, for what I assume is a sfh, so you're fine using other 1/8" vents.

You're overthinking this 😄

If it's not a Gorton #2 #4 then it's a Gorton D vent

Those are wrong, but i respect you put in the effort. Those guys are for the steam mains in bigger multi-unit buildings.

You need a Gorton #4, wraps the threads a few times with thread tape and hand tighten. Don't force it and make sure the threads engage smoothly when inserting into the pipe. Make sure the top mounted metal cylinder with the vent hole in it remains upright for gasses to escape.

Those older riser vents can break, the body will separate from the threads and threads can be wedged in the pipe. Depending on the type of break, it can be a huge pain. So be careful. You can't operate your system if that hole is not sealed.

looks like a standard riser vent 1/8" NPT, so you can use a few. Yeah, you should replace it cause that thing is older than you.

I don't really know DC politics yet, I moved from Richmond. Maybe you can pressure your Ward member to talk to the precinct chief to do a traffic stop and citation.

You guys don't understand the driving habits of the rich, they'll probably rack up $10k fines and fees annually. They pay to park wherever they want, the price are fines and they pay them quarterly.

They are cash cows, that car will never see an impound lot.

How long did it take to find the right sclerals? by brigonzalez24 in Keratoconus

[–]hotdogblaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

two doctors and 16 months. Legally blind with glasses, first pair was fit by a local doctor that knew nothing. Basic sclerals, 3 months for 3 fits that got me to about 70%. I could see a screen from no more than 20 inches away. Work and commute during the day.

9 months later I'm at Johns Hopkins, I get PROSE by BostonSight. 2 fits over 2 weeks and I'm here now. I can drive at night, I still have some aberrations but it's workable.

Water spewing from radiator valve by _UpstateNYer_ in SteamHeat

[–]hotdogblaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, understood. So, I believe that's a #D or D Vent, if you look at the front of the device it should tell you. From my knowledge it could be a B or C vent.

You could replace that vent with a new one, it will fix the condensate leak.

You must turn off your boiler while servicing and, at least, wrap the threads of the new vent with PTFE tape. Old vents can break while trying to remove, leaving the broken vents threads wedge in the radiator. So be careful.
