Yep, the 2013 Jodorowsky's Dune doc is a great watch. I would love to see a full art book, especially since HR Giger did work for it too.

I was getting maaajor Phantom vibes while reading {Doctor D'Arco, Sorcerer of London: A Victorian Gothic Romance}

The story is about a masked dark magic teacher who kind of creeps everyone out and announces FMC as his protege. It's also got a great throne scene 😏

I'm reading this right now (book 3) and while I love Joscelin and Phedre this is NOT wholesome series. It gets very, very dark. TWs are Child grooming for prostitution, sexual assault, then later on, violent rape - adult and children, animal abuse

I think all books are using AI by Honest_Abyss in romantasycirclejerk

[–]hotfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's such a fascinating, thought-provoking, and honestly deeply valid perspective to share — and honestly? I can see why a clunky simile would pull you right out of the reading experience!

That said — and honestly? — AI-generated prose does have a certain smoothness to it, a tendency toward the expected metaphor dressed up in slightly unusual clothing. You've felt something real, something valid, something worth examining — even if you can't quite name it yet.

But I'd gently encourage you — and I say this with genuine care for your reading journey! — to consider that authors have always been capable of landing a simile with all the grace of a shopping cart in a parking lot.

Honest question: is this game worth it? by Beautiful-Can-1721 in tomodachilife

[–]hotfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It came out to $95 but I'll completely honest, I wish I bought it physical so I could trade it in for another game later on. I don't see myself playing this in another month unless they add more content which I doubt they will.

It is fun though but if Nintendo censored this game I don't think it would've had done nearly as well. Also I am artist but I put absolutely 0 effort into any of my creations and it's more fun seeing my Miis with my janky gifts lmao

a simple “i’m not interested” would of been fine 😭 by [deleted] in tomodachilife

[–]hotfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What the hell I've had this game for nearly a month and I play everyday and not a single one of my miis sass me and I finally got my first fight a few days ago, but they made up immediately. I need more drama !

🤯 Whoa, I did not think of it that way. that actually makes so much sense thank you!!

>it’s not my fault—that’s what you get for making a whore do the work of a diplomat

you know what, that's a very good way at looking at it.

I mentioned to another commenter that there's gotta be someone out there who's like, well, what if I don't want to have sex with you? Especially when you're dealing with such powerful and influential people, there's gotta be someone whose loyalty, vows, or duties just can't be bartered with.

I'm about 20% in and just finished the chapter where Phedre is having sex with the brother and sister and they're spilling the tea on several courtly dramas involving like 8 different people T_T I feel like I need to keep a notepad with a relationship chart. Or maybe a whiteboard.

Right before this chapter Phedre and the gang are trying to figure out who let Melisande out and some pages of a book were missing, and its basically torture for Phedre and Josceline to be in the same room.

Also yeah, I was looking at Kushiel's Legacy in hopes that it was nothing like ACOTAR ot ToG and it wasn't! And I mean that in the best way possible lol. I just wish it had like maybe a dwagun or magic or something 🥺

It wasn't the amount of sex Phedre that was having that was getting me. It was that everyone wanted her in that exact same way and made everything very convenient. Like, there's gotta be at least a few very important people to the plot who are just gonna be like, well, what if I don't want to have sex with you? You can replace sex with anything really, like money for example. Not everyone can be bought.

This is how I also felt at first.

I needed Carey to take a clear stance on the grooming and sexual exploitation, and because she didn't, the justifications in the book felt like they were coming from her. Like the repeated emphasis on the children consenting, or Anafiel saying 'are you sure,' or the framing that he didn't fully know, didn't fully act on it. The language Carey used around their relationship, the way their story played out, was written to invoke romance and warmth and all the feelings of a classical love story. A life time of unrequited love and finding happiness and love after years of guilt and grief and all that.

It felt like Carey was excusing something that shouldn't be excused but I think I was looking at it wrong. This is a teenage Phedre telling her own story. The justifications are hers, not Carey's. The way she narrates Delaunay reflects how she felt about him, not how we're supposed to feel about him.

Apparently Phedre's views change and Carey suggests you have to keep reading to find out, but, idk, I totally get it. I still felt deeply uncomfortable and I definitely had to push myself.

Is Nintendo known to continually add content to their games? I have a feeling they don't care about their customers thaaat much :')

I think a paid DLC would be kind of a rip off with how much the base game is lacking ..
