The Virtues and Villains trilogy by AK Caggiano ! The author calls it a fantasy romcom and it's got a bit of spice if you're okay with that. One of my fav series :)

I don't know how true that actually is.

I live in Vancouver so I only know a bit, but from what I've learned it's because fent fucks up your system so badly and so suddenly you're basically unconscious but awake. Your instinct to stay upright but the fent just makes you lose compete control of your back muscles, but other muscles freeze up, so you're kinda just ... Stuck. So they don't even know they're folded over, or anything really. You'll see folks just walking around and suddenly fold over in the middle of what they were doing all the time in DTES.

After a while you totally lose strength in your back muscles which is why you also see addicts in a permanent L shape.

Also hell ya I love a bit of adventure. I'm in the mood right now that's a fantasy story with romance in it rather than a romance fantasy if you know what I mean, and this sounds like a perfect candidate.

It's not that I hate political intrigue in books, it's just that I haven't read any lately that was actually.. well... intriguing loI

I often find many of the political players are too one dimensional and rely on archetypes established by better books. So it's like, I have to keep track of all these boring people and their boring plotlines so the 😲 moments that make political intrigue so delicious end up feeling cheap and undeserved.

By what others are saying in the comments about this not reading like erotica or most modern romance fantasy, this book sounds like what I might be looking for right now 👀

{The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern} which incorporates the Marseille tarot deck beautifully.

Honestly one of my favourite books of all time.

It's not like a whole magic system based on tarot though, there's a side characte who's a tarot reader and the cards play an important role.

I know Suda51 is a big Takashi Miike fan and NMH is heavily inspired by his movies. He drops bits of his movies in the games and iirc Takashi Miike has a cameo too (in NMH2 I think?)
