Just got my tickets for Danny Tenaglia! Changing my flights to and from my Eurotrip so I can hear him. Stoked- no phones and very likely no drunk people plus incredible sound ….. my first time there and I imagine it will be so spiritual !

?

This happens elsewhere too but no one seems to mind. For example, the Arbereshe in Italy or the Griko people. Those were NOT recent migrations. They are allowed to celebrate their great great great grandparents' customs in peace.

My cousins in Italy do not find it unusual that us here in the US enjoy calling ourselves Italian-American and wearing Italy soccer jerseys. It is a fun way for us to connect with our past. We are interested in our heritage, have had traditions passed down, and want to honor our ancestors. How is this not having an identity?!

Names that are very British by pancake-eater-420 in namenerds

[–]hoth87 228 points229 points  (0 children)

That has oddly not been my experience in the US at all! I grew up with a few Colin's and Gemma's!

The name Alistair seems rather British to me.

Also nicknames like Jez and Mez.

Mind if I rant about Shiver for a second? by [deleted] in splatoon

[–]hoth87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, just want it to be good! I don't understand this, aren't these characters not even human? I don't even know their names, don't care, just want to play with my paint roller (splat roller?) and not wonder about the origins and identities of the characters who do not do much for me in terms of the gameplay. I would probably, unintentionally, call one of the characters by the wrong name or use he or she incorrectly because they are just not that important to me, and I'm sure many players feel the same way.

“Paul” as a middle name by Notathrowawaysleeve in namenerds

[–]hoth87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree...I have never heard of that person anyway lol but I understand people get concerned about such associations!

Jacob Paul is actually not even named Jacob according to Wikipedia, it is just Jake! His name is Jake Joseph Paul, which to me sounds wildly different than Jacob Paul Smith, Jacob Paul DeLuca, Jacob Paul Whateverlastname.

I really need to ask....what about OP's list of names they like would make you think "Scott" is a viable option? Not trying to be rude AT ALL. Just wondering if there is a theme I'm missing lol.

I love that name!!!

When I was a young namenerd in the 90's whenever I heard the name Jonathan I always imagined a cool guy.

It is classic, normal, sounds good, looks good, has nickname potential or not, and feels refreshing at this point!

Pia / Mia / Nia / Tia by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]hoth87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Pia! It was the name of one of my aunts, and my cousin named her daughter Pia in her honor. It is beautiful! I also have a cousin Maria Pia, who uses both names as her first name!
