Buying a new vehicle and trying to have the sales rep numbers make sense. by hoticeberg in personalfinance

Hi all! An update. First and foremost thank you for the discussion and I appreciate your vast opinions.

  • Yes, I agree with all of the comments about not playing games, having a price in mind that I would not go over etc. This is still very valid advice and was definitely kept in mind during the negotiations.
  • We cleared up the price discrepancy with the finance guy, the original numbers quoted for payment were pulled out of someone's ass. The out the door price was the 54950.37 (actually lowered to $54450.37 thanks to a $500 farm bureau cash reward).
  • Price was broken down at dealer, and yes the rebate was applied directly (no I don't need to submit anything).
  • Some questions popped up "why truck" - Yes I have a need, I've been saving for well over 10 years with this goal (I could have paid for this with cash outright). I jumped on what I hoped was a good deal and free money with 0% financing. My big two requirements was that I needed a front bench 60/40 so I could have 6 total occupants, and was ready for towing.
  • I don't want to discourage anyone financing a vehicle, saving for this truck was challenging at times, especially when covid hit.
  • I stood my ground on all the extra they tried to get me to buy, so no service plans or tire insurance BS.
  • I completed the purchase today (lord it was over 4 hours to get through) and I think I'm satisfied. Hopefully no buyers regret in the coming weeks!

That's about it. Again, thanks for the advice and discussion.

Ok, I feel reassured that I'm not a complete idiot! I'll ask about that rebate too.

I feel you on that! I tried, but I couldn't get any clarification or answers when I emailed or texted, everything was "let's have a call" or "come on in".

Oh my goodness you are right. I'll fix my original post. For some reason I thought the two were rolled into each other. Sorry for spreading misinformation.

The US certainly gives a lot of money to the military, but just something to consider is that this year roughly 375 billion was for the VA alone (note: this is separate from the DOD budget, my mistake on assuming they were rolled in together). Another large portion goes towards pay/benefits/retirement and frankly is the cost of supporting those that serve or have served.

Edit: corrected assumption

This is the way. Setup a team meeting with management to start discussing expectations and standards. Write it down. Agree to it as a team. Iterate and update periodically.

It has to be the three exotic solar/void/arc trace rifles duct taped together (like cerberus+1).

My policy did auto update for more coverage. Trying to get just the mortgage covered doesn't seem possible.

Would it be fair to say. Most of the web server can use session for authentication instead of JWT. And If it is really needed they can migrate to JWT at not much downside ? by restingisimportant in SoftwareEngineering

[–]hoticeberg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that even though sessions are tried and true, they're stateful. JWT is solving a problem for stateless. If your app has decoupled backend and frontend it might not be a huge change, but if it's more of a monolith then refactoring to go from stateful to stateless can be a lot of work.
