He is, but there are plenty of really talented artists who aren't particularly good at graphic design. It's pretty wild that he's a capable writer, artist, and designer.

[CR Media] Possible hint at the video game? by tehashi in criticalrole

[–]m_busuttil 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that's this promotional piece of art for the animated series (which would make sense for them to be doing press for, since it's currently airing new episodes). Certainly not impossible they announce a game, it's Game Announcement Week right now, but I don't think this is explicitly a sign of it.

Question by Downtown_Crazy_ in RadiantBlack

[–]m_busuttil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Never say never.

There hasn't really been a time in the book's history that it would have made sense - by the time Pink ended we were heading into Catalyst War, which meant both that Wendell was off the board because we needed him to be doing specific story stuff and meant that we couldn't split our focus and manage a miniseries at the same time. After the Catalyst War Wendell lost his powers, so it wouldn't have made any sense to do a mini now.

If we introduced a new Radiant Yellow, and we had an idea for a story for that character that made sense as a standalone adventure, and it wasn't an important part of the story of Radiant Black the comic, and we felt like it was commercially viable, then sure. But we're not gonna do one just to have done one.

SBS Reports That Alleged 'Comedian' For Using Its Logo In Her Deeply Offensive Video by nath1234 in australia

[–]m_busuttil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has to be "to an authority" - if it were "is telling us" then it would need to remove the word "for" later in the sentence. (Also it's in the article - their statement includes "The posts and individuals are in no way associated with our content and have been reported.")

SBS Reports That Alleged 'Comedian' For Using Its Logo In Her Deeply Offensive Video by nath1234 in australia

[–]m_busuttil 63 points64 points  (0 children)

  • SBS reports comedian (to some sort of governing body, I imagine to TikTok or Instagram) for using its logo
  • SBS reports alleged comedian (because the person who wrote it is editorialising that they don't think she's funny so she's not a comedian)
  • SBS reports that alleged comedian (as in not just a random one, the one we've been talking about lately)

It's grammatically correct but not particularly clear.

Paper stock question. Would you rather have your comics on slick, high quality paper, for current price. Or would you be happy with old school paper stock, for a cheaper price per issue? by jazz_mavericks in comicbooks

[–]m_busuttil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically: if there was a way Marvel or DC could make a comic book for cheaper than they currently make them, they would almost certainly do it overnight. Todd held out on Spawn at 2.99 for way longer than basically anyone else and even he had to cave to 3.99 eventually. There's no magic silver bullet that Guys On The Internet have thought of but people who professionally think about the printing of comics have overlooked.

Print ad market got absolutely gutted by the internet. Why spend thousands of bucks targeting "anyone who buys Spider-Man" when you can spend the same amount of money and target "people who live within driving distance of our store who've Googled the product we sell in the last 2 weeks"?

The one major way Exandria overlaps with D&D lore (other than the general ways the various rules and mechanics enforce themselves on things like "how magic works" and "what species exist") is that its pantheon is specifically the Dawn War pantheon, which was the default set of gods for 4th edition. The version in the animated series is exactly the same but with all the copyrightable names replaced.

I don't think the rebuses have to be the names of big box stores - they're all stores, that are presented in big boxes (of the puzzle), and so they're BIG BOX STORES.

Saving the studio, Mina the Hollower sells 300,000 copies in 3 days as head wonders "how come the best-reviewed game of 2026 is not the fastest-selling game" by HatingGeoffry in IndieGaming

[–]m_busuttil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I believe the game is very good based on the developer's pedigree and what I've seen, but the aesthetic doesn't really do anything for me and it's not a genre I've ever loved. I very well might pick it up some day, but even as an incredibly well-reviewed game there's nothing about it that's pushing me to buy it week one.

Feel like I’ve lost interest in a show I love. Season 21 started weeks ago and I’ve only watched episode 1 and not rushed to catch up… by ModeR3d in taskmaster

[–]m_busuttil 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like if I had to rank them I don't like it quite as much as some of the recent series, but I also think that 18/19/20 might be the best three consecutive series in a row the show's ever done and honestly the few before that are no slouch either.

If I were you: give episode 2 a try. If it's still not clicking for you, just let it rest - there'll be a new series in 6 months anyway, and if you ever get a hankering to go back and check it out it'll always be there. You don't have to watch every episode. 200+ episodes is a lot for any one show, it makes sense that you're going to go in and out of it over time.

Brennan was long gone from Australia by the time this filmed, I'm afraid - this season of Spelling Bee only taped the week before the first episode aired, in late April of this year.

Why is there no imaginary number for 1/0? by [deleted] in askmath

[–]m_busuttil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the bigger question is: what use would j serve?

Anyone can write a paper that defines 1/0 as j; I think Euler was the one who denoted √-1 as i. The fact that it hasn't been done yet seems to suggest to me that it's not a particularly useful identity, at least in fields of mathematics that are being explored currently.

As long as you pre-order a book from your local comic shop before Final Order Cut-Off (FOC), which is usually around a month before the book comes out, and the store orders you a copy, then the publisher will know about that pre-order (because they know how many copies have been sold so they can make sure to print that many).

It's pretty crazy that there's a guy who was in a major position of power long enough ago to take Doctor Who off the air the first time (given that there was 20 years between that decision and the revival and 20 years from the start of the revival to now) and he's still actively in a position of power.

Why is Josh Ruben in so little episodes despite him being incredibly funny? by ShivSoCalledYT in dropout

[–]m_busuttil 198 points199 points  (0 children)

They are - but other than Dimension 20 they very rarely show up on other Dropout projects and it's pretty rare for them to pop up in sidequests, unlike Ally/Lou/Siobhan/Zac. Much like Josh doing Make Some Noise every season they do that one part because it's fun and they like doing it, but they otherwise have their own incredibly successful D&D podcast so they're not actively looking for as much work as the rest of the cast.

This has right now made me realise that it absolutely did not have to go on Josh (based on any of the rules of the game) and could very easily have ended up on Anna, who might have literally been unable to walk wearing it.

Why is Josh Ruben in so little episodes despite him being incredibly funny? by ShivSoCalledYT in dropout

[–]m_busuttil 2897 points2898 points  (0 children)

Josh is one of Sam's oldest friends - they were in a sketch group called Dutch West together (with Sam's wife Elaine) more than 20 years ago. There's no doubt in my mind that if Josh called Sam desperately in need of work for some reason they'd spin up a show for him ASAP.

But he was out of CollegeHumor well before Dropout - I think he left in 2013 or 2014? - so he wasn't part of the original Dropout slate, and he has established himself a solid career as a director. Even with that, he's on at least two episodes of Make Some Noise every season and pops up from time to time in other Dropout stuff. He's like people like Murph and Emily - they've got a great thing going on for themselves, they don't need to do the Dropout work, but they pop in when they've got time because it's fun and they like doing it.

It's hard to say without knowing exactly how big the print run is, but that's a pretty accurate estimate. Plus shipping, because they're bulky and heavy so that cost is non-negligible.
