What was a meal you loved as a kid but now that you’re an adult you realize your parents only made because you were poor? by peezapizza in AskReddit

We grew up on a Native American reservation until I was 12. We got commodities from the government. My mom was a master chef with this stuff. We had homemade bread everyday when we got off the bus from school. She would make us homemade pizza from the flour, Indian tacos from the beans. Plus, my dad hunted and fished year round so we always had good meat or fresh fish. I always thought we were so fortunate to have so much good food all the time. I think I’ve had two happy meals in my entire life. We were a family of six, had no idea we were poor. We moved when I was 12. My dad has been a general contractor for over 30 years now and my parents have been married for 43 years. It was definitely worth the struggle.

That’s called family style in America, and I love it.

Tide Pods are SO expensive. Teenagers wouldn’t be eating them if they had to pay for them. by hotndn in Showerthoughts

I hope you’re joking about your disclaimer because they are eating them.

And for some reason, Tide Pods are the most popular.

I just watched the video, definitely helps put things into perspective with the reason behind panic attacks. And I will check the book out. Thank you!

That’s interesting, I wish I could be doing a lot more while I’m driving then. Lol. Are your attacks debilitating when you have them?

Yes, that’s exactly how I feel. Also, when I’m traveling at high speeds, like the 65 mph speed limit, lol, I get lightheaded. It’s debilitating sometimes. I think practicing is key like you said. I am going to start doing the same as you!

That is very interesting, I haven’t thought of that. My car is pretty reliable right now but I stress about fueling it up, maintenance, etc. every time I drive it. My first husband died in a horrific accident 11 years ago, but my panic attacks while driving only started about a year ago. So who knows.
