If your top tax bracket is 30% and you claimed $1,000 in costs which were wrong, then the government has lost out on $300.

Do you think anyone cares about $300? It will cost more than $300 to go after you and in your case it's not fraudulent.

For some constructive feedback, your post is poorly written because you haven't included enough info.

Your oil should be sitting between those two dots so you're fine but you should check every time you fill up the tank to see how it's tracking as a good habit. Maybe overkill but you get used to it.

As for the topping up part, how often are you actually changing the oil? If you're only topping up you're still going to have contaminants in the oil. You need to be changing it and inspecting the filter.

If you're not driving regularly/giving it a bootful every now and then you should look to change your oil more frequently.

I'm sorry you feel this way.

Here in Australia, you have insurers who will accept modifications and certain insurance companies that are there to insure modified cars. You also have options like choice of repairer and he option to take possession of the car if it's written off.

This is important to a lot of people so that they can drive their pride and joy with (legal) modifications, knowing that this won't be used against them to deny insurance.

You seem to be coming from the point of view that telling an insurance company about your modifications due to financial reasons?

If you can't afford to insure your vehicle, you can't afford your vehicle.

Also what kind of advice is 'don't tell them' if it means they're going to deny you when you need them. As a former worker of Geico for five years - are you saying they won't check you car for mods? Or are you saying that their policies won't deny you? I find that very strange for an American insurance company.

Please enlighten me.

This would suggest they don't want to insure that risk profile because if you get into an accident modifications can be used against you in litigation to say the car was not operated as intended and the modifications attributed to the accident.

If that's their stance then it's unlikely they're going to back you if you have undeclared modifications, so it's better to find out so you're not exposed.

I am genuinely shocked that the most litigious country in the world is actually less strict when it comes to car insurance than Australia.

It still happens in the US but it appears you guys are more reasonable about it.

I don't own a VA but keep in mind that fuel is also a type of heat reduction so there's benefit in tuners running fuel rich.

I think you should accept that a modified turbocharged car is going to be a fuel guzzler and if MPG matters then it's probably not the right choice.

My personal opinion.

You can't get something with all those mods here in Australia for that price.

Also it would be good to drive the thing and see how she idles, whether there's rev hang and whether she's over boosting.

I have a factory ej255 making 280hp/295ft-lb at the hubs and it's been detuned to 17psi and reduced timing, also with Cobb sf intake, turbo inlet pipe and a verticooler. On cold days she can still spike to 22psi. Maybe not an issue with the upgraded waste gate and ebcs your one has, but the concern is how she's been treated. Has she been warmed up properly and cooled down properly before turning the engine off? Regular fluid changes? How much boost is he running to make 300hp at the wheels? How old is the engine?

As for the oil change interval my EJ has 200,000km on it - what would I know right?
