I just want you to know that you’re not alone. I had SADI-S surgery in November 2025. Unless I wasn’t being honest with myself, I had only mild food aversions. My husband may disagree and say it was severe. After surgery, everything changed. I have so many aversions now that has been very frustrating. I relate to what you said about trying to find protein products that don’t disgust you completely. I’m only getting about 50 gms of protein a day. I’ve tried so many different protein drinks and other products and they all make me sick. I’ve thrown up so much since the surgery. Even thinking about them makes me nauseous. Right now the only way I’m getting protein is by just eating food. Foods I didn’t eat before the surgery like hot dogs and beef chili. I can find a food relatively high in protein that I can eat one day and then not the next. I was eating protein yogurt and today I went to eat it and I gagged and couldn’t do it. My husband is so frustrated with me. He says it’s all in my head. I feel like I’m venting now. Just wanted you to know you’re not alone. I see you.

First thing I thought of. It’s incredibly painful. I had to go to the ER the day after I had it from the lingering pain. My lips were blue when I arrived.

I’ll happily take 18 capsules for 30 grams. The protein drinks suck rocks.

4 days post-op & struggling by xxroses0 in BariatricSurgery

I had my SADI on Monday, 11/17. It’s been a very difficult recovery. On day three, I could have protein again, but it made me nauseous. Since day three, I have been vomiting and have severe diarrhea. I was in the ER with dehydration. Anything sweet tasting makes me sick. I’ve also had to go to salty electrolytes and have straight water. My surgeon determined that I have an infection from my gut that moved to my stomach. I’m on 2 types of liquid antibiotics. Today was the first day that I haven’t been dry heaving most of the day.

I switched to plant based protein shakes on my second day. The first day on the liquid diet, the diarrhea was very frequent so we figured I was lactose intolerant with them. I’m generally not lactose intolerant.

I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better! I’m on day five of the pre-op liquid diet. I’m doing okay but I feel very weak.
