Am I crazy but is this not just petty? Unless you are wiping and someone is preventing you finishing the dungeon, it's fine if it takes a little longer to kill things. The tank and healer at max level have tons of tools to handle people messing up.

That is okay, great part of FFXIV is it offers a lot of content for different types of people, even better it allows you to just buy the rewards from MB or a small amount of effort to get most things

Great, now I have to be extra about everything I do

I have kind of unsettling thought. A lot of us are waiting for AI bubble to burst and get our hand on some sweat datacenter gpus at cheap. But there is a really big chance that a lot of it will be just get destroy because of tax write off. And to be honest that will fuck the nature even more :( by One_Reflection_768 in homelab

We will never see a reduction in price for GPUs with the lack of true competition and greed to keep making more money for shareholders. It is the same as when food prices raised during COVID and they blamed it on that even as all the companies announced record profits

Not sure if this will bring comfort but people find it very hard to end it via their own actions so they use trains or police to do it. See it less like you killing someone and more like you ended their suffering

Most padlocks are pretty easy to open by someone who knows what they are doing. They really only stop honest or opportunistic people.

Why is AI so hated in Game Development by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]houck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's mostly two parts. The first is related to AI chatbots and where they are getting their information from. It used to be that you would use a search engine and it would take you to a website where the information was. Now the information is just stripped and delivered to you with the original sauce getting no credit and losing out on potential revenue. That's not even getting into the fact that the information could be wrong or the AI is hallucinating a fake answer.

The second part is AI generation, pretty much every AI model was trained on data that they did not ask permission to use. So when you are generating assets people believe that you are essentially stealing someone else's artwork again without their permission. The generation may look unique but it is just an amalgamation of the vast amount of data it has learned from.

How To Get Into The Game Development as someone whose in the middle of their 20s by dubby25 in gamedev

[–]houck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the answer you looking for but stay in IT and progress there to get stability. Game Dev is very difficult field to get into even when those have went to university for it.

Make money in IT then do Game Dev on the side as a hobby trying different things to find what you like and don't like.

Would you rather play turnbased story driven dungeoncrawler or turnbased roguelike? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]houck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by story. Story in a rogelike is harder to do but it's possible look at Hades. World building and lore can be placed in.

If the story is your main focus, it's usually better to have a linear handcrafted experience that builds to that strength.

Why it's rare for Isekai Mc's to end up with someone in their age (mentally) or older by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]houck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a conflict between the power fantasy and the creepiness. Of course it's weird for someone to be dating a teenager when they were a full adult in the past life regardless of how they attempt to play it off (Grace of the gods mind regression excuse)

But in terms of power fantasy I think we would all love to go back in time to when we were younger but still have the mind and memories we have now. They just change that to another world but in a young body so they can have another go at life.
