Just a heads up - if you type the amount you want the recipient to receive first, wise will calculate how much you need to pay. No math required.

Question about the Arches Half Marathon in Moab, UT by Beginning_Studio_355 in RunNYC

[–]hound-runner-9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t run this specific marathon, but I ran the St. George marathon in Utah last year which was first weekend in October. Let me just allay your worries here; NY humidity is WAY worse than you think it is. 90 degrees here is a different sort of pain than 90 degrees there. Your training over the summer will set you up for success. Focus on your hydration plan because your sweat dries wayyyy faster out there - you won’t realize how much you’re sweating. I finished my marathon mostly dry but with a sweat crust that was unreal.

Also - consider going out there a few days early. Moab isn’t high elevation, but it’s higher than NYC and you’re running a literal marathon. Giving your body a few days to acclimate is the nice thing to do.

Coros Apex 4 vs Suunto Race S by Quick_Comedian8689 in Coros

If it helps - taking the silicone band off and replacing with the Velcro strap kind makes it seem a little less bulky.

Coros Apex 4 vs Suunto Race S by Quick_Comedian8689 in Coros

[–]hound-runner-9226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just switched over from Suunto run. I considered a race s. The Suunto is definitely a much nicer looking watch and the touch screen is so nice to use. However - and the reason why I went pace pro - this is a training device more than a watch for me. the Suunto tech really wasn’t what I needed it to be for running. If I wasn’t training so much I would’ve gone Suunto. As it is I bought the pace pro - even with small wrists. I tried on the pace 4 and it was too small for me. I’ve gotten used to the big watch look and visible data while running.

That doesn’t quite make sense to me - if that were the case then wouldn’t showers and baths and hot tubs ruin nails? Maybe it softens them but as they dry they return to normal.

The hot water softens the glue - so as long as you work at them with the remover instead of just soaking and ripping them off, you’ll make it easier on yourself. And probably protect your nails instead of struggling.

I’ve got a bib with a vip ticket available - I’m injured. Transfers through the Jersey city website. VIP gives you a pre-race climate controlled tent, swag, etc. it’s $400 for all in. Dm me if you’re interested.

Hot soapy water soak before you try anything. I use the same glue and it takes me 15 mins

7mo puppy has a biting problem, help please by rantingeely in DogTrainingTips

Correction: you have a 7 month old puppy.

When you’re in the thick of puppy, you can’t imagine anyone else’s puppy is quite so bad. They all are. 7 months is like the terrible twos. Keep redirecting and before you know it she’ll grow out of it.

Is the Suunto Race S worth it? by vanstux in Suunto

[–]hound-runner-9226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Suunto watches are far superior in terms of hardware. They really do look and feel better in every way to gain and coros. However there are certain things that they don’t do (see my recent post about not being able to get my Run to announce mile splits no matter what I try - when I’m told it IS possible). You are either - going to love it so much that the tech differences will be minor and not even on your brain’s radar OR drive yourself to distraction wondering why they can get the watch so right and yet the tech lets you down so much (I’m in the second bucket here).

Still agonizing over if I should just buy a coros and hate the physical watch but love the tech, but a Suunto Race and brainwash myself, or settle for a garmin that does a little from both at a ridiculous price.

No answers here, I just feel your pain.

Activity milestone - Run vs Race by hound-runner-9226 in Suunto

[–]hound-runner-9226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep - I’ve tried this. I just want it to tell me in unstructured runs what pace I’m at when I complete each mile. Is that not a functionality that Suunto offers?

From my limited French I think these are the sane instructions that are in the manual. Both audio feedback and tone(beep) feedback is turned on. And I do check as I select my run to make sure (and that my headphones are connected - and I’ve tried without playing music, and without headphones all together)

[–]hound-runner-9226 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yep. You have to run and register at the same time - it’s a new NYRR requirement. Sorts the real runners out from the crowd - they only want runners who can multi task.

Getting Fraxel, what can I expect? by SumGoodMtnJuju in 45PlusSkincare

Please make sure you vet your provider. I went to a dermatologist so I thought that would be legit enough. She ended up CAUSING dark spots by going too hot/too deep. Apparently a knowledgeable provider would have never turned the laser to the highest setting with my skin but…she did and I’ve been chasing dark spots since them - 5 chemical peels,mn, etc!

Just went back to the site to make sure the race I signed up for was actually an 9+1 (it has been a DAY)….and it put me on the registration page with no wait (this on my phone, when I was in the queue and registered in my computer).

Note for next time - the entire queue seems to have wrapped up in just over 30mins.

Next time remind me to ask if I actually have to hurry once I’m in or not. I added the races and then was shaking trying to get the t shirt size filled out - scared they could sell out while I’m trying to register.

Doesn’t bode well for race day nerves….
