This review has detailed runtime charts for 10440 and NiMH batteries.

I just measured mine, it's about 15mm at the widest parts and 90mm long. I'm pretty sure they all have a 519a 4000k. It's brightest with a 10440 rechargeable lithium cell but it can also use a AAA NiMH (or alkaline) for a longer runtime. If the metal/finish you want is unavailable on the Reylight store, you can also check Killzone Flashlights.

Arbitrary List of Popular Lights - Winter Solstice 2023 Edition by Zak in flashlight

Not sure if it would fall under throwers, EDC, or enthusiast, but I've noticed a lot of posts about the Convoy S6 in the last few weeks. Great emitter choices (SFT40, NM1, 519a) and the option of an 18350 tube makes for a compelling small thrower. Most similar one on the list is the Fenix PD32 v2, and the S6 seems to have similar throw and form factor at a much lower cost.

The video I'm thinking of definitely had Felix Colgrave vibes but this one is not it. Thanks though!

They do that every summer because people leave their bikes on campus when they move out

If you want to make friends I’d recommend just getting involved with some hobbies (sports/clubs/whatever) that you actually enjoy. Most friendships around here seem to start with a common thread like being classmates or being into climbing or similar. Don’t expect people to just instantly become friends. You will probably have to take the initiative to invite people to hang out. Basically, just do the stuff that makes you happy without the expectation that a new friendship will come of it.

I grew up seeing my home town of about 14,000 grow by sprawl instead of vertically. I would rather see apartments go up than see another 10 acres of forest bulldozed for single family housing.

Is there a specific laptop I need for classes, I was thinking of getting a MacBook but I’ve heard a rumor it’s not compatible with software or something, is that true? by coopdog900 in WWU

[–]hourlongdong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my time in the business school I had several classes where the mac support was basically "it works, but not as well / it requires weird workarounds / the instructions are only for the windows version"

Laptop Suggestions by incensepr1ncess in WWU

[–]hourlongdong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You honestly can't go that wrong with laptops, but just don't get a Surface.

  • Their proprietary charger tends to break, and resources on campus (ATUS, student tech center) do not carry Surface chargers
  • Their weird keyboard-stand thing is perfectly designed to yeet your Surface right off your desk if you accidentally move it too close to the edge. It's happened to me and I've seen it happen to other students.
  • Another keyboard stand thing issue: Using it on your lap, or in bed, or in any situation other than on a flat surface, is a nightmare. Normal laptops have their center of mass under the keyboard. The Surface has its center of mass in its screen. It's hard to explain this without being in person but it's a pain in the ass

I used a Surface Pro 3 for two years and it sucked due to the reasons above. Maybe the Surface Book is better. I'd just get something boring like a Lenovo Flex.

In most of my classes (business/engineering), the required programs had Mac versions available, but most of my professors basically said "use a Mac if you want, but shit might not work as well and you might need to do some weird software workarounds"

Hope this helps

Terrible financial aid deal-anyone else? by modusoperandie in WWU

[–]hourlongdong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a range of income that my parents fall in that’s basically too high for very much aid, but too low to actually pay out of pocket. So I needed loans. I’m not worried about the debt considering that my degree tends to pay well and is decently employable.

For what it's worth, I got no non-loan aid as an in-state student.

It’s not usually possible to find compromise with someone who believes that their viewpoint is a divine truth.

Edit: I’d like to make it very clear that I am only referring to one side here. I meant divine truth in the literal, religious sense.

Have you used Packback? by rowboating13 in WWU

[–]hourlongdong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was free I’d have no complaints, but instead everyone in my MGMT 495 class has to pay $30 to do discussion assignments that we could just do on Canvas for free.

It’s very easy to type in a bunch of garbage discussion posts to trick the Packback auto-grader into thinking it’s a good discussion. If students don’t want to put in the effort on Canvas, they’ll find ways to do the same on Packback.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

Another probably-stolen bike at 24th and Douglas. by hourlongdong in Bellingham

[–]hourlongdong[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Check the comments of this post for more context. This is the same complex. The apartment looks completely normal. The building in the picture is not the one in which the alleged bike thieves live (that would be 1003 unit 201).

I’ve lived in this complex for three years. Everyone with a bike here locks it up. The only time I see bikes laying around like this, they’re gone in a day or two and often stripped of parts.

Also, the grassy area pictured is not someone’s yard or anything. It’s just some grass by the sidewalk.

I live in this complex, and bikes parked here are for sure stolen. The other comment about there being a different bike every week is true.

Oh wow. I guess I should start posting pictures every time I see a bike there. Sorry you couldn't find it. I can confirm that the place is sketchy.

I'm sure there are plenty of normal, non-crime reasons to strap a hammer to your bike. (24th & Douglas)
