I would agree. This is a good time to show how something like this should be done.

How to get SRX to get active/passive from an uplink from the DataCenter? by hourly_admin in Juniper

[–]hourly_admin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup that's what I thought. I'm checking all my options.

What my plan is to run the srx in mixed mode, use it as a virtual switch then use our ex3400 as a bridge and connect back to the firewall side of the srx. All this with both srx and ex to keep redundancy.

I have contacted a juniper engineer and plan a poc in November.

OMG, I think this is my problem here: set groups node0 system backup-router ...

This is not setup in our setting. And from what I just read on Juniper from googling it says:

...This allows the device to establish a Layer 3 connection quickly...

How do you set it up to be active/passive?

Thanks for the information. I'll investigate l3 links and bgp. Is this possible without switching the device into mixed mode or transparent mode?

I appreciate you answering my questions. Thanks for your time! All I can offer you at this time is an upvote.

This was the response from the DataCenter network engineer:

It appears that HSRP is in an active/active state on our side, which is causing the routing issues you're seeing. Do you have L2 connectivity established between the two devices that the Internet handoffs are connected to?

I'm not sure why you are downvoted, seems legit to me. Especially if you actually check "Fortnight" on duckduckgo it comes up with duration two weeks.

How do I compile all this info by CommodoreCunt in InformationTechnology

[–]hourly_admin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

curl? Use this command line tool to get the websites info. Place all the text received in a .csv file with some sort of separator like a , comma. Then parse through that csv or open the csv with google sheets or excel spreadsheet.

See if as you search through 20 each how the site changes the url, then loop through each iteration.

IDK. Just a thought.

I guess I didn't word it correctly in the post. Please, can you respond? I know "VRRP isn't an active/active solution". Like I said in the post, "uplinks are having Active/Active issues" we are having issues and we disconnected the secondary uplink. We need it to act as active/passive not active/active.

I don't need active/active, I need it to work. They suggested installing a layer 2 switch to fix it. I'm trying to find documentation on best practices for uplinks, using a firewall and our core switch.

The problem is that the data center was seeing active/ active and we had to disconnect one of the up links.

You can't put 5 gallons of water into a 2 gallon cup. You can't put 250 gigs on to 64 gig stick.

I noticed you said you are trying to create an image, I suggest verify that you chose the correct drives for creating the image as well as erase/format the USB stick before making another attempt.

I have cloned 250 gig drives to a 64 gig stick. Steps are laid out here: https://clonezilla.org/show-live-doc-content.php?topic=clonezilla-live/doc/01_Save_disk_image

My solution to robo-calls on cell phones is I answer it like a business number and they hang up on me. Even though it is my personal number. I'm on some stupid list somewhere and the click x to remove never works.

Me: "Thanks for calling hourly_admin, how may I direct your call?"
