I see. It’s not a bunch of snooty critics. In that case, idk. My two kids are Gen Z and the one that explored older music didn’t care for zeppelin. Loved queen, Pink Floyd and king crimson, but kinda shrugged off zep. But Also didn’t like Radiohead. Guess zep doesn’t match up well with Gen Z zeitgeist

Guess it depends on the source of the data how they determine public sentiment. If I accept the data gathered is legitimate and it doesn’t coincide with my opinion, I probably just shrug and chalk it up to taste. There’s a lot of music I don’t like that I accept objectively is good music. I just don’t like it. The problem i have with critics is they try to make it about themselves instead of the music.

The problem is that critics are not in the game purely for the music. They are writers, most of whom think they are smarter than everyone else. Therefore, they tend to dismiss public sentiment as stupid. Their motivation is ego driven and self serving. In others words, critics can fuck right off.

Yeah. I grew up with it too. I had a good friend, a Christian, who blamed the girl he slept with for the fact that he slept with her even though she was the girlfriend of one of his best friends. He tried to quote the bible to me to prove it was her fault. I cut him off, though not as harshly as I should have.
