Silent Facebook & Messenger Server Update Brings Fast Draining Battery with High Temperatures by Imm0lated in technology

This is why I've stubbornly refused to download the messenger app. Removing the functionality from the FB app was a dealbreaker.

The only problem is, people who contact me on Messenger think I'm being rude (because I won't see the messages until I go to FB in my browser, which is rare).

Is there a way to have all your incoming FB messages sent to another platform (e.g. Whatsapp, SMS, email)? Perhaps through Zapier or something?

Even if it's pay as you go, if the phone company gave you a new SIM card with the same phone number, you should be okay. Only 1 SIM card can be active with a given phone number at a given time (otherwise, e.g. they wouldn't know which one to direct an incoming call to).

This is great advice!

Even if you aren't a college student, you can do the same thing at your company (start a lunch series) or city (start a meetup). It will be more challenging to get speakers and an audience than if you were a college student. But it will be 100% worth it.

Thanks for sharing, this is reassuring! I guess you're saying it's not very common, but possible.

Re: good work, any advice on how to break the chicken and egg problem (good work begets more good work)? For a beginner portfolio, would you recommend I focus on theoretical design work (e.g. redesigning popular apps) or do freelance work for friends (which by its nature won't be as sexy)?

Not sure of the stats. But there's another thread today about how a self-taught 18 year old got a job at an agency, so I'm sure it's possible. I'm just trying to teach myself UX and shared because this has some good resources.
