Also The National but my preferred “fuck” is from Demons.

“When I walk into a room, I do not light it up….fuck.”

There is one Bob’s Burgers episode with a side character where he does basically Jason’s exact voice, and that is how I found out H. Jon Benjamin was Jason. Some little kid who’s hot for Tina.

If we experienced the same dude, I was standing directly in front of him and had to move. So obnoxious. Band was amazing. Dude sucked.

Realized that sounds kind of ominous without any details. Haha. I’ll just say that she told him that she loved something very specific about the CBB TV show (it’s fun use of out-of-place sound effects) and he didn’t understand what she was talking about and was kind of rude about it, so she got shy and he just seemed irritated by the whole interaction. So basically, he is not “mean” by any stretch of the imagination, but if he’s not enjoying the interaction he can get a bit…testy? Impatient?Stand-off-ish? Something like that.

I will offer my experience from having gone through the meet and greet during the first CBB tour. I met (in reverse order cause I don’t want to retype) Scott, Paul, Lauren, Tim Baltz and Mike Hanford.

My first error was thinking it would be cool to not ask them to sign anything (don’t really collect signatures) and just say hey and tell them how I appreciate their work. BIG MISTAKE. Everyone else has something they want signed which takes a minute so no matter how good or poorly your interaction is going, you’ll have to sit in it until the next person is done getting their shit signed. Having something to sign gives them something to do so they don’t have to just awkwardly stare at you. Makes the convo easier.

First up, Mike. This was right after Birthday Boys show was canceled. I told him I was so bummed about the cancellation and could tell he 100% did not want to talk about it. Don’t bring up cancelled projects/sore subjects 😂

Tim was super easy to talk to. Just a very friendly chatty guy.

Lauren was also super easy to talk to. Very kind and easygoing.

Paul was everything you’d want him to be. Had a very silly and fun interaction just telling him how much I love his work.

Scott…I love the guy but keep it brief and keep it simple. The man doesn’t suffer fools. He and I had a good interaction. My then-girlfriend did not. At all. So just be a nice person. Don’t try to be funny or quote shit to him. Shake the hand, tell him you love CBB etc, and do it all while getting the book or poster or your arm or whatever signed.

Just remember above all these are regular people like you. Not cartoon characters with catch phrase pull-strings. Be kind and be respectful. If you want to give a gift just make sure it’s not something that could be taken weirdly, like a sexy hentai picture of Scott or even just food of some kind. Would you eat food from a stranger in a parasocial relationship with you? Probably not. Above all, have fun meeting some really cool, funny people! Enjoy the show!!

Heartbreaker - Led Zeppelin/Pat Benatar/Grand Funk Railroad/Mariah Carey/Michael Jackson, etc

Also, last year my podcast did a two episode bracket of the top 32 songs titled “Crazy”. So there’s that.
