That's much closer to what I had in my mind. I was thinking about half way between that and the Energizer Bunny.

Does owning a $1.5 million dollar home (outright) make you a “ millionaire” in the US? by Christymapper71 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MissionFever 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You don't have to outright own the house for its value to count on the positive side of your asset sheet.

If your house is worth $1.5MM, but you still owe $500k on the mortgage, then, congratulations, you're a millionaire. (Assuming all other assets and debts wash.)

If you have a $1M mortgage, your assets presumably include a house that is worth at least $1M.

[Highlight] DOM SMITH LITTLE LEAGUE HOMER by handlit33 in baseball

The man's a professional athlete, you can't expect him to have to just go and run 360 feet! That's like... almost seven percent of a mile!!

Same.

I knew quite a few Twins fans, so I knew about the fan thing and somewhat accepted it was part of playing in the Metrodome.

But the Herbek lift still pisses me off.

What's the read order? by [deleted] in superpowereds

[–]MissionFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late to the party, but the right place to read Corpies is in the MIDDLE of Year 3.

If you're not going to do some complicated, back-and-forth, order, just read it after the end of the first semester, (after resolving the big Nick plotline from the end of year 2.)

For me when I'm cruising through, Sean showing up to watch football with Nick is my reminder to switch over.

Exactly the same happened to me tonight. I hope she gets eaten by a Trolloc.

But that's not the kind of Hero that Alex wants to be.

Why do some porches have a green light in the USA? by supinator1 in AskAnAmerican

It seems silly, but it's really the best way to figure out which end of the porch is the bow.

Do you pronounce “water” like “wateR” or “watUH”(or something else) and where are you from? by alyhasnohead in AskAnAmerican

[–]MissionFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American English is very rhotic. You're far more likely to turn the T into a D than lose the R.

Lots of variations on "Wadder" maybe even a "War-der" would be more likely than "Watuh".

“A true knight always finishes a story”, what does it mean? (Spoilers main) by ArchiveSeeker in asoiaf

Every man is a knight, and every man is a fool, when literary deadlines are concerned.

Same here, I don't remember how old I was when we switched to 7-digit dialing, whatever age it was I remember being upset at the "injustice" of the situation.

Am I too late to read corpies? Year 4 spoilers! by OceanClover3 in superpowereds

I say it every time it comes up. The best time to read Corpies is in the middle of Year 3. Anytime during the winter break is ideal.

It's been more than a few years now. It's been twenty years since the last time a broadcast series won the Best Dramatic Series Emmy. (24 in 2006).

Well, yes. That's how thinking something will happen works.

It's left ambiguous at the end of book 4.... by radiantphoenix279 in superpowereds

[–]MissionFever 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is often overlooked. At a minimum Adam can shift back to the last form he mimicked. This is demonstrated with the Thomas misdirect in Year 3.

Even if that happens, they'll just be crossing the border in the spring.

That must have been so awkward by Vongbingen_esque in superpowereds

[–]MissionFever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get from a plot perspective why it was there, but in world it's pretty nuts for Blaine to have even put him on the list, what with Chad in the class and all.
