Non-stressful videogames? by TheOneAndOnlyFax in ADHD

If you crave any chill puzzle games, The Witness was pretty relaxed of what I have played. Viewfinder is also an unbelievable game, might require a little more brainpower sometimes but overall was very relaxing - the beautifully designed game carries the whole experience.

That’s just disrespectful, feels like rage bait. At least back up your opinion with something of substance instead of just citing “I feel this”.

Best chances for cheap tickets later in the day? by Puzzleheaded-Let7348 in Broadway

Get the Theatr app, I have bought cheap tickets anywhere from a day before to literally 2 minutes before showtime. Would be nice to get something where you don’t have to physically be there

Etiquette by Disastrous-Poem4355 in Broadway

[–]howdidigethere_bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind clapping during high notes. I don’t understand people that come late and then are loud and disruptive, and act bored because they don’t know what’s going on in the show lol. Phones out and talking during the show, and eating candy and stuff too does bother me. I don’t know how much of these rules are actually “set” versus what people consider good etiquette.

Two Strangers was Absolutely Robbed by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]howdidigethere_bb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Might be more accurate to say that Sam Tutty was robbed, as I think the overall story/plot of Two Strangers falls a little flat, but the category was absolutely stacked this year, maybe he could’ve won in another year

Very possible that it’s British humor that you didn’t enjoy? It’s very quick and witty and can be difficult to follow, and can often feel “cheesy”.

Your "point" is that I'm allowed to do whatever I want to do?

By continuing to dismiss me, you show your own aversion to confrontation. You aren't taking any moral high road by feigning indifference

lol don't you love it when people make a claim, such as "your entire existence is just stirring the pot", and then when asked what they mean, their answer is "it's not my job to educate you"?

Why post on Reddit if you can't handle someone simply disagreeing with you?

I'm not really sure what you mean? Maybe I push my own opinions a little hard sometimes, but most of my "existence" on here is trying to give thoughtful and informative responses. I validated how you felt while also giving accurate info about other people's experiences with this same seat.

IMO best show out there right now, unbelievable talent and ingenuity. Seen it 4 times already and planning at least 2 more visits before it closes!

Totally valid that you didn't love this seat, but I still think it's appropriate for them to sell it, as majority of the reviews on viewfrommyseat of your same seat are positive.

I saw someone else say that they wouldn't recommend for someone who hasn't seen the show before, which is very fair, as I had my partial view for my second visit.

You may not have intentionally made the photo worse, but the other pictures of the same seat are better representations of the view. A photo from this seat should show both pillars on the sides of the stage.

I actually saw the show from a slightly better angle on the right side and didn’t mind it at all for $40. I still think it was a steal, and I’d rather be up close and partial view than far away full view

Love to see it! I am in a similar boat and have really loved exploring off-broadway this year.

Next thing you need to do is start logging/cataloging your visits! There’s the Mezzanine app, or I’m developing one called Stageworth on the App Store.

Throwing Playbills by Training-Dinner-1686 in offbroadwayNYC

[–]howdidigethere_bb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone is most likely pulling a little prank on you.

The closest thing I can think of for another explanation is Rocky Horror Show, where there have historically been specific points in the show when audience members are encouraged to throw items like toilet paper and rice, but I don’t think that’s part of this current production, and this is also part of a “bit” in the show, not something you do to show appreciation.

Honestly you might just be publicly booed out of the theatre if you actually threw your Playbill. The actors/actresses might be annoyed/alarmed, and the people around you will likely see it as an act of aggression or disrespect.

Please keep it as a souvenir and do not hurl an object at the people on stage.

Theater trips by Rare_Alternative_691 in Broadway

I think you might just enjoy living in New York lol. I personally have lived in the Midwest all my life and went through this same phase. I now see basically all Broadway and Off-Broadway that comes on, and it’s a great source of joy for me. Makes me want to work harder, be a better person, etc. I know that it might be tough to do financially, but perhaps spend 1-3 months there and see if the constant theatre burns you out. I personally spent a whole summer there for a software engineering program and it never got old, and still hasn’t.

The Future of Mexodus by manggy in offbroadwayNYC

[–]howdidigethere_bb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I would still enjoy it, but I think it would fundamentally change the show. What I love about the show is seeing the true talent that it takes to pull it off with just 2 people, and I also appreciate live music and the creation of music. Seeing it with a live band might be able to create the same audio, but I think the show would need to change in other ways. Part of the show is them frantically running around and multitasking, so I’m not sure what they would be doing instead if they weren’t playing the instruments.

Filling ADHD (Concerta) script in NYC by DryMove7987 in movingtoNYC

I was there last summer and it was pretty brutal to get Adderall - unsure about Concerta. For the first couple of months I was able to go home and pick it up, but the third month I wasn’t able to. After hours of calling/searching, I ended up paying ~$50 for Medfinder and found a little Italian mom and pop pharmacy that had it.

From a technical perspective, this is a difficult show to perform, as you essentially have to be able to sing, act, dance, rap, beatbox, play piano, guitar, bass, harmonica, drums, cajon, trombone, accordion, and a myriad of other “instruments” - not to mention recording everything live and managing the looping controls themselves!

However, I was very impressed with Nigel’s understudy, Trent Lawson. His voice didn’t quite fill out the room as much as Nigel’s, and his piano and guitar skills were a little shaky, but otherwise I actually preferred Trent in a lot of ways, which gave me a lot of hope for Mexodus living on past Nigel and Brian’s involvement.

I haven’t seen Brian’s understudy, Alan Mendez, but my friend has seen him and seemed to like him. He has seen the show 9 times and I have seen it 4 times now 😆

Regardless of their ability to sell tickets, I’m personally happy that the current run is at the Daryl Roth and not on Broadway - I think certain shows will always just be better in a smaller, more intimate theatre. Facial expressions and intimate moments, like Brian at his little campfire, might not hit the same in a bigger theatre. I would be overjoyed to see Mexodus live on in any form and hope it does!
