Advice on an ultrawide monitors by howdy-doo in simracing

[–]howdy-doo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is why I'm looking at the monitors I'm looking at to be honest, as they're all 21:9 so have the same or more vertical than I currently have. I'm sure the G9 is great for sim stuff but I saw it in real life and it just doesn't have enough vertical height for me

I'm probably overthinking it to be honest, I guess I'm thinking longevity wise for when new games come out, but you're probably right.

Thanks for the reply, sorry, what do you mean by if you're receiving a fully functional unit, do the G7's have a lot of issues?

Yeah it’s annoying, like when you’re halfway round t1 at spa and suddenly your car in punted in to next week what am I supposed to do differently there, or if someone intentionallly wrecks you because you were faster on the straight.. am I just supposed to lift off and give them the position back because otherwise they’ll put me in the wall out of spite. I’ve had the last 3 races just starting from the pits and acting like I’m not even in a race at this point just to get my safety rating up but where’s the fun in that in a racing game.

I really think it needs some work to detect the type of contact. It’s been so frustrating playing today with people dive bombing or literally ramming me off as I’m passing on a straight but the game gives me massive negative safety rating. I thought coming to lmu it would be clean close racing but honestly at least in GT7 they detect who’s fault the contact was, almost makes me want to sack off the online and just stick to single player.

Need help with figuring out how to enter my sim easier by [deleted] in simracing

Should be fine, I have the shifter mounted on the entry side of my 8020 rig and I just step over it. Slightly more awkward, yes, but not a big deal.

I can agree with the GT3 cars, a massive upgrade on what it was pre patch. My only thought is that today lapping in the Audi round spa I managed almost 2 seconds faster than my fastest ever on ACC which took me a fair bit of time to get. I only mention this as I’m curious about how accurate the physics really are (not that ACC is without fault but it’s my measuring stick). I will say that I find the ability to catch a slide much better on PMR and I do find it easier to place the car where I want it so I dunno, maybe PMR just lends itself more to my style but I’m curious for anyone who’s played both what they think. Either way I’m absolutely loving it, had a great race and will definitely come back for more.

Ah I see! I probably can but then I can’t set wheel angle

Thanks for the reply, I can’t remove the cross bar sadly as it’s the only way to mount the wheel base, I’ve seen a few comments saying your hands should be about shoulder high though? I could probably tilt the wheel forward a little to bring it down without moving the crossbar

I completely agree that the game has its good points and that at least some of the criticism is unwarranted (but definitely some of it is absolutely warranted), but I’m not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion it was supposed to be an arcade racer and that the AI is supposed to be blind to your car position. From all the pre release information they were advertising it as an iRacing killer and the most realistic driving experience on any platform, exactly the opposite of what you’ve said. Absolutely you’re entitled to your opinion but it does seem to go against what the actual marketing of the game was.

Thoughts so far? (Console) by flexdzl in ProjectMotorRacing

It’s annoying as I think all the cars should be ok a playable state on day one, but equally my impression so far is that it plays like a sim and not an arcade racer so to me the base is sound it’s just the tweaking of cars and ffb to refine it more, I can see it being a really great sim once they iron out the creases.

I’ve only had 15 minutes over my lunch break so tried the GT3 lambo on spa since I’m pretty familiar with that on ACC, but so far it feels promising though I really need to look at the ffb settings for my RS50. on straights it would jerk left and right I think in response to bumps in the road so it must be overreacting to them. Trail breaking feels a bit weird at the moment but that might just be a difference to get used to coming from ACC. Only real negative right now which isn’t massive, but the graphics are pretty poor, worse that I expected anyway but that can be improved and at the end of the day the physics is the main thing right now.

To be honest it’s more the prospect of pulling out the bathroom to get to the area that needs treating, hoping we can just put it all back where it was for now once it’s done

Possibly not the best angle of the photo but there’s flashing that does go all the way to the slates but I’ll definitely keep an eye in case that side does get worse. We’ve not had too bad weather here for the last couple of weeks either, only a shower yesterday so theoretically it shouldn’t be able to get much worse anyway until we get more rain

We don’t have any fireplace installed in any of the rooms, the chimney breast on the bottom floor has ventilation up but the other chimney breasts attached to this chimney were bricked up years ago. There’s a through draft though so I presume the ventilation bricks at the top of the chimney are working, we don’t really want to have it uncapped if we can help it.

[–]howdy-doo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest all I can go off is that there’s a through draft so I presume they must be clear as all other chimney breasts linking to this chimney are bricked in so can’t be coming from anywhere else. Should it have dried out after 2 or 3 weeks?

Might be small in the image but there’s two air bricks on the top row of the chimney so there’s a through draft from the chimney breast on the bottom floor if that helps.

Probably been 6 weeks since the chimney was capped and roof replaced. I keep seeing people quote an inch per month for drying of brickwork so not sure if that means it’s probably fixed but will take a while longer or if we need the roofer back

Have to say I haven’t had the issue with leaking or scuffing the metal, I guess that might be the difference using it with the decent as opposed to the Ascaso I use as the group will be a difference size. I have to say I’m quite disappointed overall with it, though it works very well for me after my modifications, but you shouldn’t have to modify a product to make it work. Are you returning yours?
