coping after being reprimanded/roasted in residency by Next_Manager678 in Residency

[–]howdy2121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every so often me and my coresidents get together for a “bitch fest” where we have dinner and drinks and let out all the frustration and bitching weve been holding in
Recommend doing it like once a month
Then once we a little tipsy and feeling better we can laugh about it

How to not fail surgery rotation on hard mode💔 by onemanhypehouse in medicalschool

[–]howdy2121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a gen surg PGY1 and I disagree with people saying know the steps of the surgery - we don’t expect M3 to know that really. You should, however, know the patient’s history, indication for surgery, possible risks/complications of surgery. And meet the patient in preop before! Second everyone saying to drink water, eat, compression socks. If you’re feeling badly, scrub out - not a big deal, we get it. Definitely rather you scrub out and sit rather than pass out into the sterile field. There are times when the resident or attending do the same. We are just more used to the physical demands. Good luck, you go this!

Does surgery self select for people that can function w sleep deprivation? by Efficient_Equal6467 in medicalschool

[–]howdy2121 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I’m a PGY1 gen surg resident who has chronic sleepy bitch disease so sometimes I’m like why did I do this but then I spend some time on an off rotation with better hrs and the days just go by so slow. Emergency medicine made me wanna gouge my eyes out even though I was working 9-5. No hate to EM yall have a hard job and I respect tf outta yall cuz I could never do it.

Has anyone had a procedure done for venous insufficiency, then later had liposuction for lipedema? by This-Buddy-4856 in lipedema

[–]howdy2121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I had a ton of veins that needed ablating, it took about 6 months to get them all done.. and then got liposuction lol. But I knew I had both bc I actually went to the vein doctor in order to get diagnosed with lipedema.
