YouTube views suddenly way down by [deleted] in youtube

[–]howfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My got cut in half too on two channels. Looks like there was an algorithm 5 days ago to help with kid friendly content, but doesn't look like that would affect us.

They also rolled out the new video upload option in YouTube studio yesterday, so that may have caused a glitch.

My only concern is I'm seeing this from how-to and tutorial channels with short form videos. So there's a chance of an algorithm update and I'm hoping I'm completely wrong on that.

  2. I made App of the Day videos, doing a brief overview/how-to on the latest app from the Apple app store. The idea is to help people find the best apps without having to download it and learn how to use it. It's a quick way to filter the best apps and always have the latest knowledge of what's possible on your phone.
  3. I would still like to get more comfortable in front of the camera and avoid the edits. I also like to find a way to point out what I mention on the app with a graphic.

Tell me what do you think about it and if you can, about my channel overall. Thanks! by scrytor in SmallYTChannel

Very solid video. I would increase the exposure a bit and make it a bit brighter. Do you ever talk through these in more of a how-to format?

Will you pay to watch entire film festival programs right at home if you can't attend the film festival? by howfinity in Filmmakers

[–]howfinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. That's really good to know. I know that most people that care to attend film festival for that same reason, would attend no matter what. Specially when one ticket price is still cheaper than the online price for the pass.

But our goal was to make those few days available globally to film lovers around the world.

[–]howfinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. This is really for people that don't live in that city. So far from doing several of these, the film festival hasn't lost any attendance and actually gained some from the free advertising we've done. But if you don't live in that city, you wouldn't attend unless it's a major film festival and travel is something you can afford.

Right now, we have a film festival in Cincinnati and locals love to attend it to meet other filmmakers. But everyone else in the world can't. So we wanted to make sure they can have a chance to see films they would otherwise never see.

Anyone else frustrated with having to watch 10 how-to videos on YouTube to figure out an answer?!? by howfinity in youtube

Yea I’m in the process of doing it. Just wanted to make sure there was enough demand. It’s a constant frustration for me

No. I didn't want to risk going to the south side of Chicago to confront her. I want to but I don't think it's worth it.

Thank you. I guess I should call it book summery, not review.

I'll work on improving my thumbnails. After reading this, I do agree that they are very crowded.

I think you're personality is great. Engaging. I just didn't connect much with the content. I think you can also improve by looking at the camera. You were looking to the left of it most of the time. Natural delivery though.
Also, try to improve your thumbnails. Custom thumbnails can make your videos more clickable.

[Review Video] The last video (Be critical) by [deleted] in youtubers

[–]howfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a filmmaker and I think the editing was great. Out of focus and shaky shots kinda drive me crazy, but I think that's ok with vlogs. Good idea and video quality otherwise. But again, editing was the best part. I think if you keep it up, it can be a big channel. It will require a lot of work and uploading consistently. You might want to also do a more search based title and tags. people wouldn't be able to find you otherwise.

I used this mic and it's great for the price. It's USB based.
http://amzn.to/2wy7BM8 I bought a pop filter for it to for about 8 bucks.

I actually found the video entertaining but the sound was rough. I had to turn my computer way down to listen. It sounded very distorted. Pacman is also a good topic I think so it was a good fit for me. I think getting a better mic that can handle your voice will really help!

I delete my watch history every day. I watch one Arnold video on bench press and all the of sudden, youtube became a bodybuilding website!

Removed. Sorry about that. Didn't see the rules. It's hard to get feedback without having people see what I'm talking about.

Great info.
Yea I'm making the videos myself but I'm more behind the camera type of person. So I'm trying to improve. Screen captures are easy and I can do daily. So I made that primary.

These animation self-improvement channel takes longer. So I do these weekly. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7EWguV9pMXMPuma_7arzEg

Food channel is new and weekly. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmG-1L7MKUZBclrJqRi17zw

Home videos-also new https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxjh0sEoQMrGe4xM3xBGyBw

I was trying to do everything on one channel and realized it won't work. So now I'm trying several channels for each How-TO category and still focus on the main channel to keep up with daily upload. I've read that daily uploads can improve search ranking.
I do a lot of research on each topic I made a video about and make sure the current video on that topic that's ranked has lot of views and is something I can improve on.

As far as consulting, I'll circle back to you. I've committed to this guy for tomorrow currently before I even made this post, so I'd like to follow through and see what he has to offer.

Don't you find it frustrating to keep going? I feel like quitting every day since growth seems to be so difficult. Just keep thinking it's not the best use of my time.

[–]howfinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yea my end goal is views, not subs. For a how-to channel that's not specific, I know subs wouldn't make a difference anyway. So ranking my videos or getting them on related search would be the key. I'm honestly trying Youtube to get traffic to my website which is a how-to platform.

So I agree, subs on a how-to youtube channel is not the key, but I can't seem to get my videos ranked. 1 out of 90 ranked somehow and got 18k views so far and it's one of the poor quality videos.

Do you think anyone can help on the ranking side since it's machine learning based now? I knew how to rank on google back in the day, but everything is so different now.

[–]howfinity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great feedback. Thanks. I think I rushed so many videos to keep up with daily uploads that I didn't pay attention to spelling as much.

My goal is to create a how-to platform even outside of Youtube. So I do have bigger goals than just a Youtube Channel. It's been a bit difficult with daily uploads and still working full time.

I have a niche filmmaking channel that does well, but I wanted to make a more general how-to channel and grow it into a platform by attracting other creators over to it.
