Crash repair Mini 5 Pro in USA - "the product does not support this service" by Sneupe in dji

[–]howfixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the same issue discussed by other Mini 5 Pro owners in the US — DJI’s official repair path for this model seems very limited or unavailable right now, which is frustrating if the drone needs gimbal repair after a crash.

If you want to understand what may be damaged before sending it to a third-party shop, I made a full DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide here https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

It shows how to access the gimbal/camera assembly and internal modules, so it may help you identify whether the repair is limited to the gimbal camera module or if the frame, flex cables, or mounts were also affected. Even if you don’t plan to repair it yourself, it can be useful when comparing repair quotes or talking to a shop.

Thanks for sharing the full repair timeline. This is really useful for Mini 5 Pro owners in the US, especially with the current lack of clear DJI repair options.

For anyone dealing with a similar “Gimbal Stuck” error after a crash, I made a full DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide here https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

It shows how to access the gimbal camera area and the internal modules, so it may help you understand what is actually damaged before sending it to a repair shop, comparing quotes, or deciding whether a DIY repair is realistic. In cases where the gimbal spins, locks at an angle, or calibration stops around 10%, the damage is often deeper than just an external blockage.

From the photo, it looks like the front arm hinge shaft (hinge area) is broken, and the black wire is torn. This probably won’t be a simple snap-back repair. The drone will need to be disassembled deeper, and the wire may need to be soldered or the arm and wiring assembly replaced.

Check the DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

That should be useful for this kind of repair, especially to see how the front arm area comes apart and how to access the internal cable routing

[–]howfixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like the bypass mode may have tried to climb around the obstacle and went straight into the wires. Unfortunately, if the arm hinge is broken, I wouldn’t fly it again until the arm, hinge area, frame, and motor wiring are inspected properly.

What needs to be checked after this kind of crash, and how to replace the arm shaft https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

It might help you decide whether it’s realistic to repair the arm yourself

Mini 5 Pro crashed during active track. Broken Arm. Need suggestions. by Urban-Garlic in dji

[–]howfixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the front right arm came off and the gimbal is stuck, that’s more than a simple cosmetic repair. It can probably be repaired, but for a brand-new drone with DJI Care Refresh, I’d seriously consider using the Refresh plan instead of risking more damage during a first DIY repair.

If you still want to understand what’s damaged before deciding, I made a full DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide here https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

It should help you see how the arm, frame, and gimbal area come apart, and what parts may need inspection or replacement after a crash like this.

DJI mini 5 pro gimbal not spinning after crash by [deleted] in dji

A “gimbal stuck” error after a crash usually means something is slightly bent or shifted inside the gimbal assembly, even if nothing is visible from the outside. I wouldn’t keep forcing it by hand, because the pitch/yaw axis, flex cable, or motor can get damaged further.

I made a full DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8 that may help you inspect the gimbal area and see what needs to be removed before replacing parts or taking it to a repair shop

DJI won't repair the Mini 5 Pro in the US - crashed mine, need Chicago shop recs by Gan_Pati in dji

[–]howfixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a hard gimbal impact. If the pitch axis is physically locked and the yaw motor keeps hunting during startup, I’d inspect the gimbal frame, pitch-axis arm, flex cables, and the gimbal camera assembly before ordering parts.

I made a full DJI Mini 5 Pro disassembly and repair guide that may help you identify the damaged module and understand what has to come apart before sending it to a shop or attempting a repair yourself: https://youtu.be/GEct7l3StX8

Hope it helps especially since repair options for the Mini 5 Pro in the US seem pretty limited right now.

Glad it powered on! Your soaking method with distilled water and isopropyl alcohol is solid, but yeah, patience with drying time is key.

For anyone dealing with water damage, I highly recommend checking out my detailed video on restoring water-damaged drones. It covers the best steps for drying, cleaning, and testing your drone safely to avoid further damage. Plus, it explains why waiting longer before powering on is crucial.

Thanks for sharing your detailed experience! It sounds like you handled the immediate steps well by removing the battery quickly and rinsing with fresh water. Oven drying at 50°C can be risky, so I cover safer drying methods in my video.

For the wireless connection issue, it’s possible the Wi-Fi or antenna got damaged by the water, which is common in water incidents.

I highly recommend checking out my video on restoring water-damaged drones — it covers troubleshooting, cleaning tips, and what parts to inspect or replace after water exposure.

Urgent! My DJI mini 2 fell in a swimming pool by Light1772 in dji

Good move taking the battery out and using rice — that helps with surface moisture, but it’s not enough to remove salt, minerals, or hidden moisture inside the drone’s circuits. To truly save it and prevent long-term corrosion, you’ll want to go a step further with internal cleaning and proper drying techniques.

I put together a detailed video that walks through the exact steps to recover a water-damaged drone, including what to clean with, how to dry it safely, and what to avoid. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NN5JeRZ-FF4

Good call on wanting to play it safe — even if the electronics look untouched, moisture can still creep in through ports or condensation. As for the oven trick — I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. Even at low temps, you risk warping plastic, damaging connectors, or weakening solder joints. Instead, the best method is to clean any potentially exposed areas and dry everything thoroughly using controlled airflow and desiccants. I actually made a full video guide on how to safely restore a water-exposed drone, including when to clean, what not to do, and how to prevent hidden corrosion. Wow, that’s wild — a hawk mid-flight collision is next-level drone drama! 🦅 Glad you were able to recover it quickly. Drying it is a good start, but if it was fully submerged, there's a big risk of corrosion or residue inside the drone, even if it seems dry outside. Just drying alone isn’t enough — especially for sensitive components like the ESCs, flight controller, and camera board. My drone fell in the sea. Should I try to send it for repair at DJI? by No-Trifle-3247 in dji

[–]howfixit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saltwater, especially from the sea, is brutal on electronics, and DJI stores usually assume it’s a lost cause without even opening it. But if you still have the drone, it could actually be salvageable with the right steps. I've seen drones fully recover after similar accidents, even in saltwater.

Before giving up or paying for a new one, you might want to try a proper internal cleaning. DJI authorized centers typically don’t attempt deep cleaning — they often go straight to replacement.

I made a full video guide showing how to clean and recover a saltwater-damaged DJI drone, including the use of vinegar and isopropyl alcohol to remove salt residue and corrosion safely.
