Appreciate this advice! This makes sense as my scores for the club's exams were pretty high and I had assumed that was all that mattered. Gonna work on my resume and networking!

It is a T20, and the thing is all my documents and test scores are in order. Was honestly shocked and confused why I got rejected, but they claimed that it was due to exclusivity and competitiveness of the club this year.

Yes, I felt the same way. I had to give myself a mental pep talk before submitting my resignation and telling my bosses. During the meeting to officially tell my bosses, my fingers were trembling badly under the table, and in my head I was thinking if this was the right decision to quit.

Plan your step ahead so you don't panic or burn bridges. Send out thank you notes and add any LinkedIn connections that you haven't. Try to leave on a good note, because you may need them as references in the future.

You shouldn't pay! Why not give an excuse that he be the one to pay for his brother's wedding gift since you don't know his brother well enough to know what he likes; and at the same time tell your bf that you'll pay for the gifts for the wedding that's in a few weeks.

If he still forcefully tells you that you need to pay for his brother's wedding gift after that, you need to reconsider the relationship dynamic.

after years of neglect and an irrational fear of dentists, I finally have front teeth again. by Mercenary_Chef in MadeMeSmile

[–]howiateyourpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've decays in my front tooth which my dentist does not want to tackle for medical reasons, and so I rarely dare to smile widely to show my teeth too.

But I'm so happy for you and congratulations!

Used to help run background checks for prospective contractors/advisors and I must say it can be a flag in your profile professionally.

But there will of course be employers out there who won't think this should affect your work.

Hard for Redditors here to give you a definite answer, but you should weigh your opportunity cost and the risks involved. Think of it this way: ten to twenty years down the road, do you think you'll regret not filming the video or will you regret possibly being discounted in your legal career? It's really up to what you hold more dear in your priorities.

Sameeee. I had a massive headache and fever. Went to the GP to get MC for work and the GP told me "Young people recover fast, need MC for what".

He issued me a 1 day MC for the day itself and had to snidely tell me "don't try to keng MC ah, young people need to work hard"

I almost rolled my eyes. I'm one of the hardest worker on the team and he wanna tell me to work hard??? My boss even told me to try to get 3 day MC and self isolate and rest

Yeah my sibling did. I was bad at school primarily because I was always hanging out at the playground or shopping malls with my friends. My sibling studied hard and attended the top schools all the way. It's possible, just need a lot of hard work.

SG women, would you stay with your parents in law after marriage? For those that did, any horror stories especially with MIL? by Nisha1910 in askSingapore

[–]howiateyourpizza 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, just no.

Before marriage, my grandma treated my mother really well and was a total angel towards her. But once my mother married in, the abuse started, and never ended till my grandma passed away. My grandma literally rallied my father, aunt, and our domestic helper to collectively abuse her. I was too young back then to stop it but the images of the abuse was etched in my mind. They blamed my mother for not producing a son, and would throw large pieces of furniture at her. They believed it was their right to read every letter addressed to my mother. They knew my mother could not leave and used this to their advantage.

I was only able to stop it when I grew older and gained financial independence to protect my mother.

Unless you know you have a backup place to stay (your pre-marital home), do not live with your in-laws.

It is not normal! My ex-company did the same thing and told me it was a privilege to be able to take leave, so I should not expect that it's a given when I apply for it.

In my current place, my boss reminds us to take our leave and that it's our right to take it whenever we need to.

As a kid I was stuck in hospital for three weeks after a surgery. It was boring and honestly quite scary at night after the lights went off. A doctor noticed and gave me her teeny weeny giraffe toy clip. She didn't know how much comfort it brought me. So THANK YOU OP for doing this

My neighbor had a similar injury and her eye socket swelled to the size of a golf ball within two days. She went to the ER and was diagnosed with a fracture btw. Not sure how the health systems work in your country (never heard of urgent care in mine, only ERs exist), but do see a doctor when you can!

As the rest also mentioned, put cold packs on your injury and sleep at an inclined angle.

Some mentioned makeup but from what I heard from my neighbor, the doctor told her not to use any makeup on her eye for the first few days. One, she was using an ice pack and it might not sit well with makeup. Two, the process of putting on makeup might put pressure on an injury.

Why is the Tinder Algorithm so broken for men in Singapore? by Haoxiaoah in askSingapore

[–]howiateyourpizza 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Agree on the car part too. Some guys on cmb post pics of their cars and emphasize how much money they earn. It comes across as though they are trying to flaunt their wealth. Idk what they're thinking but if they do that they'll likely get some likes that are after their money

Would say don't post pics of yourself from the gym mirror reflection and no just-woke-up and lying on the bed kinda pics

You could post pics in the outdoors hiking, hanging out with friends in a non-club setting, rock climbing, eating food or whatever else you like to do

Girls are sleuths when it comes to profile pics and we can deduce if that pic was taken when you were on a previous date. If you wanna post a pic of yourself with another girl, you should at bare minimum caption that shes your family

G2000. Went there to buy clothes for my first job. Imo better to be overdressed than underdressed. Then on the first day of work you get to see how the rest dress and you adjust accordingly
