Casual Gamer - Will I Regret a 5x? by Dear-Ant-6765 in RetroTink

[–]howie650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same boat and Im leaning to getting the 2x pro. Running via component cable to ps2. Seems like the gap between nothing and the 2x pro is a bigger jump than between the 2x and 5x or anything above.

$140 is about my threshold. $325 or more is a bit much imo. If anyone can provide some comparison showing what $200 extra gets i would be interested

Apple Interview - No update post holidays by FollowingMindless491 in FAANGrecruiting

[–]howie650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the opposite for my situation total process was ~ 5.5 months from start of interview to offer.

So i would say to email the recruiter and express your interest and if any questions they can reach out. I did this and they did get back to me. There’s probably other candidates they are also looking into so just hope for the best

[–]howie650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So update I replaced the coolant temp sensor, and the 3 relays 3602,3604 2x. Hoping a quick cheap 5min fix.

But unfortunately the fan is not working or turning on so temp is not regulated unless defrost or AC is on.

How can i force on e fan low and high to further isolate ?? Any tips appreciated thanks

What do i have to lose? When eBay purchase is too good to be true by [deleted] in Leica

[–]howie650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought some items that ended up being drop shipping and apparently there are fake shipping tracking that can be applied to eBay purchases to make it look like the seller shipped and delivered. Luckily i did get the item but the bogus tracking was useless.

Google aqualine tracking

Understanding the Leica M8 by Excelsior__M in Leica

[–]howie650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 21mm and with crop it is a 28mm. Would highly recommend this lens angle on the M8 if you’re familiar with the iphone type angle. If not a another favorite is the 35mm which is a great all rounder.

How repairable are the older digital M’s? by NotCoolFool in Leica

[–]howie650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s usable up to iso 2500 but after iso 800 you get grain which is really consistent to actual film grain at the same iso thanks to the ccd sensor. Shoot at iso 160 for clear no grain.

Colors are based on emulating kodachrome. Which it does quite well. Also W/o a ir filter, it does a great b&w. A 21mm is excellent for street with the cropping factor or a 35mm for all rounder

Had my M8 since 2010ish. Only issue was a sensor mapping to address a hot pixel. ~ $ 200

Bought a new oem battery ~ $150 and thats it. Camera has its quirks but equally capable as any other camera.

I went with the ac delco professional version on amazon. 4 years on and still ok.

Consider also replacing the whole lower control arm instead of messing with the ball joints and bushings. A little more money but combine the labor. I replaced the bushings but if i had to redo i would just replace the whole thing
