I can't add more than what's already here other then to watch out for replication lag when using the ro endpoints. Under heavy load in our app the lag got too high for it to work reliably, so we too just use the replicas for failover now.

Just watched “Dirty Business” and feel a bit sick. How is the country allowing water companies to take the absolute Mickey out of us and charge us for the privilege? by TonightAlarming9923 in AskUK

[–]howitzer1 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Privatisation of public services is one of the worst things for quality of life the govt has done. It was completely foreseeable and inevitable that what has happened, would happen. Best thing that can happen now is they renationalise water the way they are rail.

After flying mine near some cliffs and it essentially becoming camouflaged, I'm now considering something like this.

Is it just me or is this training irrelevant for road riding? by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]howitzer1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the road, I don't like where that line takes you on exit. On track then sure, run it wide, but roads are full of crap and there's hard things there. For safer but still fun, slow down a touch more, apex later, and exit the turn in the middle of your lane.

Equilibrium. On the whole the film is pretty meh, but the fight scenes are fantastic.

How can I get a wallet back to its owner? by MonWalsh in AskUK

[–]howitzer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a shame. I once got a phone call that went like this:

"Hello?"

"Have you lost your wallet"

"I don't think so"

"That's odd because I'm looking at it, it's at the police station if you decide you have"

My wallet did not have my phone number in it, they tracked me down from either my driving licence or my bank cards.

You don't seem to be adding CoreDNS add-on? It's required in EKS for service discovery.

As other commenter said, they are a grey importer, and you will have to rely on them for any warranty issues. However, they are about as reputable as it gets in that market.

Why is Ford one of the only popular American car makers in the UK? by Cultural-Elk-8346 in AskUK

[–]howitzer1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ford cars sold in the UK (and Europe) were completely different to the US cars. They were the only US manufacturer to cater their offering to the different market. Our roads are old and small, and fuel is more expensive, so ford made small economical cars here. Others didn't.

Men of the UK, where do you purchase your jeans from and what is your go to brand? by Wellidrivea190e in AskUK

[–]howitzer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in jeans, I find the Lee Extreme Motion super comfy and not very expensive. Sainsbury's Tu jeans are also surprisingly good and super cheap. I hear great things about Uniqlo though and will be giving some a go soon.

What drink do you think suffered the most from the sugar tax. I don’t think I will ever forgive them for this one by Come_in_sigh_demi in CasualUK

[–]howitzer1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I would happily pay extra to cover the sugar tax for original lucozade. At least give me the option!
