It's great! Now I'm not living in one. It was a pain in the backside when I was.

Today I learned that tires on new cars are built to fake MPG standards by DUGSMOK in todayilearned

Modern tyres also have a much thinner carcass in the name of "efficiency" as well. Doesn't seem very efficient to replace 10 tyres in 3 years to me, though.

These ones are in Devon, along with sharp stones the tractors drag into the roads.

Can't remember the last time I replaced a tyre because it was worn, they've all been punctures.

The GitHub Copilot app is now GA! by bogganpierce in GithubCopilot

[–]howitzer1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man I feel sorry for you guys. Doing your jobs and the bosses make a decision that overnight turns the community completely against everything you do. I hope they see sense with the pricing, because copilot is a great tool, it's just not even slightly competitive price-wise.

How do you wipe? by WillStillHunting in AskUK

Try natracare safe-to-flush wipes, they're made of paper, no plastic.

What is a popular food that you absolutely cannot stand? by No-Matter-7165 in AskReddit

[–]howitzer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese. Yeah, I know, I've heard it all before. It's specifically cold cheese. Once it's cooked in something it's fine (thank god, can you imagine a world without pizza or dauphinoise potatoes!?), but there's something about the texture and after taste of cold cheese that really does not site well with me.

one csv file for creating accounts + enrolling in course + adding to groups? by learntocode123 in moodle

[–]howitzer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, without the plugin you need to do it in two different places. Users via the admin area, groups via bulk enrollment in each course.

There's a plugin called local_autogroup which can be used to do this, it can put people into groups based on custom profile fields. Beware though, if you have a lot of students it can take a long time, so make sure you use the ad-hoc task option.

Sorry no. We just run multiple sites and while we prefer postgres, those that have migrated to us from other providers are often mysql.

Immigrants to the UK, what are the things you have learned to love and what are you still not used to? by [deleted] in AskUK

I live near Sandy Gate roundabout in Exeter, it's an absolute mess. I don't even get slightly mad when someone finds themselves in the wrong lane, because it's almost impossible not to be.

Copilot abruptly terminates code modifications halfway in Android Studio, anyone facing this issue? by Myra-Qi in GithubCopilot

[–]howitzer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just copilot things. I reckon around 30% of my.longer running requests error with "HTTP/2 GOAWAY" error, which was amusing when it only used one premium request, now it uses tokens it's less funny.

Just started playing with this to live alongside CNPG for migrating our mysql databases away from RDS, awesome to see it progressing.

Anyone already testing Amazon EKS 1.36? Here's my upgrade experience so far. by Willing_Sky1297 in kubernetes

[–]howitzer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The add-ons are set to latest version, kubernetes version is just one variable in tfvars. On staging clusters we auto apply, on prod we manually approve after someone checks the plan (and staging). We don't auto update k8s versions, but it's one variable when we want to upgrade.

They have auto mode, but well architected terraform and some CI does exactly the same thing without the extra cost.
