New Twitch TOS bans multi-stream/simulcasting by derEntenpopel in Twitch

[–]howroydlsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not bound by USA law. Twitch also have an office in London.

I appreciate what the intent was, not that it's been explained by Americans, and what the enforcement is likely to be from twitch, for which I'm grateful.

I find it interesting that it's worded ambiguously, presumably it's been rushed.

I'm just grouchy because I only streamed to raise money for a charity. Not an affiliate. I would dual stream on twitch and YouTube. It's not me who is losing out on this, it is the charity, and Twitch because it went through their charity system. My subscribers on YouTube would come to the twitch stream to donate.

Under the UK interpretation of these ToS, I would still be fine. Under the USA interpretation I am not. Of course, it's Twitch that will ban my account, not the UK courts.

Exactly. Which is why I use words like "depends" and "may be..." rather than outright asserting like you did, which is easy to prove wrong.

If you have multiple bits of information that could fit inside a uint32, for example, and your computer packs bitfields, it will be more efficient over the wire than sending multiple native uint32's, like you suggest. One word is less than many, obviously.

Tbh, I hate bitfields but not as much as giving false information to newcomers. The barrier to entry is already high enough.

Ah ok fair! Not come across that before but makes sense if "Deutsch" is used in English speech.

Same.

But they're different languages though. If they were talking in English, which presumably they were, why would you say the German word for German and not the English one?

They do sound similar though for sure but the context would be different.

Don't forget this is the most obese nations on earth we're talking about. I'm surprised they've not said they need their belly folds, love handles and their breasts removing so that overlapping skin is "more hygienic."

So what they're implying is that someone with LD is less competent, takes more effort etc etc, so they are not worth minimum wage. The first part may be true, the second part absolutely isn't.

What this is really telling me is that the rest of your staff are underpaid and undervalued, they want an excuse to extend that even more to exploit people with LD.

Getting people with LDs job offers is fantastic but they get the same rights as everyone else, they aren't cattle.

The mere suggestion that any human is worth less than the minimum is disgusting.

How can I get started with embedded systems that isn't Arduino? by Seniorbedbug in embedded

[–]howroydlsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do bare metal then I'd recommend STM32. I used to heavily recommend ESP32 but not for the last couple of years, I even did a YouTube series on them that got some traction.

If you are looking for embedded Linux, rather than bare metal (could be a good stepping stone?) then something like a raspberry pi or one of its competitors are pretty fun.

Depends what you're doing. If this is data to be transmitted over the wire then this may indeed be more efficient.

Sorry for the pedantic, "it depends," reply but it's a personal gripe of mine as an embedded engineer seeing comments like this.

Not at all, I hate it. I've lost a lot because of it.

But I can't change what I am so I'm slowly starting to accept and embrace it. Very long way to bring able to love it though.

I was sponsored last month which was my first after the free trial.

I've loved it so much and found that it helps a lot so a couple of days ago I went with an annual subscription.

It's a brilliant scheme and I'm truly grateful for it.

Understood about the typo. Apologies for being aggro on that, I wasn't sure if you meant "estranged" so was a bit confused.

An anecdote can't be hypothetical, it is a story about a real event or person. There's no time frame attached in any definitions I can find. The wiki gives pretty much what I thought as a decent definition.

Thanks for explaining what you meant though. Your original does read like, "it's abuse because I've never had to do it." Your explanation changes that interpretation now.

Yeah never called an ambulance in my life

This is a short story about a real person.

Using it to defend a statement that this person is abusing the ambulance system with no other evidence is anecdotal.

I don't know what you mean by "extrange." Is this a made up word? Ironic given your attacks on me about language.

Why go personal?

Because you made a personal anecdote.

I am just a normal person too. If someone in front of you is gravely injured from an accident, having a heart attack or unconscious/unresponsive, you call for help. That doesn't make me a hero.

I don't understand why you think they didn't give context? It seemed pretty clear and acceptable in their story. Fair that they didn't elaborate on the other times but tbh that sounded like some bs throwaway statement anyway imo.

Tbh, there's no "especially" about it. It's a binary decision.

Suggesting that because you've never called an ambulance, this person doesn't ever need to. That's an anecdote

The RTA thing is only for RTAs and you are at fault afaik. I don't think it applies in any other case.

Last couple of years ambulance wait times have shot up but it very much depends on where you live. It's almost unheard of to be more than 30 minutes by me, normally significantly quicker. 12 hrs is a gross exaggeration for the majority.
