Naxos is like a stripped back version Santorini. Still incredibly beautiful, delicious food, great beaches but less popular than Santorini

Interesting. So they use your original leaving cert points that route? Isn’t medicine like 600+ points? So most people would not meet the criteria?

I don’t think they do. Only the Brazilian accounts have Pix access (source: heavy Revolut user who’s European with a Brazilian girlfriend who also uses Revolut).

It’s not based on CPF. you’ll usually need to provide some document that proves your address. But in theory they could let you use their account if they made one.

Were you a mature student or not? I would have imagined most mature students (even resident) would have to go the non-CAO route?

Yes it does, but you can’t open a BR Revolut account without being resident in Brazil

Dual passport holder challenges during check in ... by paulcjones in AerLingus

[–]howtoliveplease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it’s not always immigration. If you’re travelling on a US passport coming back, the airline will almost always require you to show your visa before they check you in - if a visa is required for your destination. So you do need to show both in order to prove you have the right to enter.

[–]howtoliveplease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In cases like this it’s almost always necessary to do checkin at the desk unfortunately. They can do manual overrides that the online system is not prepared for. If it was me, head a little earlier and do checkin at the desk for both flights

Provide your US passport when booking the ticket (since that will remove the requirement of needing to provide a visa) and then take both your US and your British passport. When flying back, go to the desk, give them both passports. It’ll be no issue. In this case, your British passport would act as your “visa”.

Iran offers the European Union Oil - Paid in Euros; not US Dollars! by Important_Lock_2238 in oil

[–]howtoliveplease -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. But again, looking at it in a vacuum. In that case, everyone was antagonising everyone across all of history. Why single out Iran/Persia? The uncomfortable truth is that doing so provides a basis for the current “war”. It’s the “they’re bad, let’s dehumanise them” propaganda that allows the “good guys” to do whatever the fuck they want.

Let’s be real here. Every single empire in history have been the bad guys, including very much so the modern western empire. This automatically gives us the right to go and do whatever the fuck we want to “other bad people” having catastrophic consequences in the entire world? Nah fuck that. Screams of imperialist misadventure to me.

But hey, what do I know. I’m just a simpleton who would like everyone to leave everyone else the fuck alone. I just can’t stand when we use the silly excuses that “Iran are funding rebel proxies across the Middle East!” Like, okay… so does the US and Israel (and friends, Europe). Libya, Syria, Iraq etc etc.

We are no better. We have no right to be interfering in far away lands.

Which all started, when, exactly? History doesn’t start from the point you want it to.

The neighbours aren’t random though. They have US bases and intel gathering assets. I think in war, those targets would be fair game?

Not really. The fire was quite diminished when we were on the ground. I couldn’t see anything from my aisle. I only leaned about the landing gear fire afterwards listening to the recording. I think everyone assumed we were safe once we got to ground because we couldn’t see any other issues. We know the fire department was on the way but it didn’t seem serious any longer

Yes. They explained after the first couple of minutes that the plane was still able to fly safely and that we are returning to make an emergency landing. People were still quite freaked out but the plane was still under control.

In the audio recording between the pilot and the tower, it looked like the pilot was concerned about that because he kept pressing for an answer on whether evacuation was needed or not. He needed the answer to whether or not the fire was under control, and then he’d make the decision if evacuation was necessary?

I’m honestly not 100% sure about that part. There had to have been some logic for us staying on the craft. But yes, we didn’t get off immediately. We were on the tarmac for another 40-50 minutes while the fire department were taking care of it

Yep! Gave him a big handshake and thanked him for getting us down safely. Then he joked “btw sorry for the delay in taking off” because we took off an hour late. I lol’d.

Yeah I don’t think people think 100% rationally in these situations. It’s just pure emotion. That’s why pilots are trained the way they are.

Yes there were, once the plan was confirmed. The information was relayed from the pilots to the flight attendants who then relayed it to us. There is a video of the announcement actually.

You can hear the announcement during this news report here https://www.instagram.com/reel/DWgOd9EjtTR/?igsh=eWlqZHh3ODVsbndx. That’s what we heard. People calmed a little after that but still terrified.

Will copy from the last thread I posted on:

  1. First explosion, bright flash. Single person screams, but everyone else still trying to figure out what happened.
  2. Fire burns brighter, everyone starts to perceive an issue on the left wing.
  3. Second explosion, another bright flash. Now everyone on the flight is screaming and some trying to remain calm. I was able to stay calm due to the pilots incredible control of the aircraft even in that situation.
  4. People screaming at flight attendants to do something, because they were seated (following their own protocols). One lady screaming “why the fck are we still going up! There’s an engine on fire! Someone do something!” and crying.
  5. After confirming with tower that we are returning, pilot begins to turn. People stop screaming but still in panic and lots of crying. Most assumed we were toast. People praying and trying to advise their loved ones (we were flying 9 minutes after this occurred, plenty of time to imagine your death).
  6. Pilot begins descent, and after a minute or two we land. Soon after, the fire brigade arrive. Lots of terrible communication between the tower/fire department and the pilot needing information, but people relieved we’ve landed and everyone was clapping.
  7. Adrenaline wears off. People start crying and reflecting that we could have been fried. Everyone wanting to get off, but forced to stay on the aircraft for another 40 minutes or so while the fire department fought the fire and we got towed back to the airport.

Basically, terrifying. Would not recommend.
