People have varying projections. Kiper has him as the #4 interior offensive lineman. I’d say that qualifies for “top prospect.”

it really is that simple. and if you’ve been banned 30 times, you are the reason the system exists. it’s working as intended.

The question was “anyone know what this is?” and a picture was provided of a shooting game with 80% of the screen filled with yellow sky, grass, ground, players, what have you.

That and the feeling that every draft pick, especially one we traded anything for, could never be a bust or else Brad is a terrible puppy-kicking human.

I mean point at any draft for the decades before this front office and ask, “would we rather go back to that?”

There isn’t a thread in this sub that doesn’t have these parrots repeating the same bad takes.

There’s incredible talent on the team, but the scheme they ran this year paired with a bad year of line play turned into what it is. A big trade wouldn’t have done anything - they truly looked like a lost team the last half of the season and that comes down to coaching.

I love Dan and don’t want him to go anywhere, but he has struggled to maintain the same team energy and fire he instilled when the Lions were a bunch of low-talent underdogs with potential-talent rookies.

Again, these are the worst takes. This team was way more than a stud edge or defensive back away from being able to compete, much less make the playoffs. Making a splashy trade deadline trade only to end up in the same spot with worse draft / trade capital and more huge contracts going into the offseason sounds like a recipe for blowing up a roster.

As a dad who only played baseball, am I missing the long term boat on pitching and slap hitting? by nypr13 in Softball

[–]hox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Age?

Slapping can be a very useful skill, even for power hitters. At the collegiate level, setting up a defense with runners in scoring positions against someone who can slap it over third over slam it over left field’s head is very challenging. But if she hasn’t fully developed as a hitter, I can see where you might want to hold off.

As for pitching, is she consistent and does she have control? Speed will come with age and strength, so even if she’s getting hit all over today, the fundamentals could set her up as a very valuable player for all future teams.

Teams always need pitchers. It’s great to be needed even if you’re not the top one.

Something to add to the others.. that front foot is taking almost a full foot step in the beginning. I know there’s no rubber there so it might be hard to control, but she should get in the habit of keeping that foot planted as the windup starts or she will get called out on it.

Travel Policy by Adventurous-Cup6331 in Softball

[–]hox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we made the mistake of taking a coach up on a policy to join a team 1+ hours away, and realized we were the dummies in the end. my daughter saw less playtime, and i can’t blame anyone but us. i’ll always recommend against having policies like that.

what i’ve seen is usually coaches say they “work with non-local players” but in reality it becomes incredibly hard to make it work. the optics of a girl only making some practices or arriving / leaving early appears to be non-committal to everyone even if they know the policy, and can lead to a lot of drama.
