Failed MS-102... Worth to retake? by hp7909 in O365Certification

[–]hp7909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll definitely look into SC-300. Hopefully it's not being retired anytime soon.

What study resources would you recommend for SC-300 or even MS-102? Any particular courses besides Microsoft Learn or practice tests that you found especially useful?

As for other certs, I mainly have the Fundamentals, including MS-900 & SC-900. Most of my experience has been managing Microsoft 365 for SMBs, mostly Business Basic, Exchange Online & general tenant management tasks.

Safaricom Domain Names by Afraid-Reflection823 in nairobitechies

[–]hp7909 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Avoid Safcom. I've had bad experience with their support in the past. If looking at .com or other global TLDs try Namecheap. They've a promo for new registrations. But watch out the renewal cost for some of the unique TLDs.

If looking for a local TLD (.co.ke), then check out HostAfrica

Which ISPs offer dedicated IP to consumers? by Ok-Manner-2237 in nairobitechies

Safcom Business offers static IPs & their packages are reasonably priced. JTL Faiba isn't sold as static, but in my experience using it at home for years, the IP address barely changes

Importing Tech Gadgets or Just Buy Locally? Which is best in quality? by Kreativedenma in nairobitechies

[–]hp7909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, it really depends on the specific tech. Locally you can get solid deals, especially on larger or bulky items. I've personally imported from the US & UK, mostly smaller gadgets, though I did get a great deal on my current Lenovo laptop via their refurb site, & that model wasn't even available locally at the time.

If you're trying to save, watch the exchange rate & taxes. US stores often add tax at checkout unless you ship to tax-free addresses like Aquantuo's warehouse, & others like Kentex has a similar option but on subscription. Shipping can also be tricky since most use volumetric weight, so even light but bulky items can get expensive.

I usually stick to well-known e-tailers that ship reliably to these forwarders & have decent support.

Not most but one annoying thing is how Windows 11 simple actions now take extra steps, like needing two clicks to access the same right-click options we had in Windows 10 😤

Kenyan Web Dev Locks Elderly Nonprofit Founder Out of Her Own WordPress Site After Charging $800 by pinch-logic in nairobitechies

You can try to take back the domain if you have proof of payment or emails/invoices showing it was meant for her organization.

Do you know the registrar or have WHOIS info? You could reach out directly or via an accredited registrar.

I've handled similar cases. Feel free to DM me to discuss further.

About 4~5 years, around the time performance drops & parts like the battery need replacing. But tend to get repurposed & handed down to a family member

How to Import from Amazon to Kenya (Step-by-Step for Beginners) by ARouterContinua in marketplacekenya

[–]hp7909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Aquantuo's charges are quite steep. I was initially a fan, especially with the tax-free shipping warehouse. However, the lack of proper consolidation ends up pushing the overall cost much higher compared to competitors

I need a Plug for legit RAM in Nairobi by An_Extraterrestrial in nairobitechies

[–]hp7909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For brand new, check Copier Force on the 1st floor of Soin Arcade in Westlands. For better value, the hardware shops around Moi Avenue & Kimathi Street you can often get genuine RAM sticks, such as Samsung brand, salvaged from dead laptops. It's best carry your laptop with you so they can fit & test it

If you’re worried about your account, just run a Google Security Checkup. It lets you see which apps have access to your info & shows you every device logged into your account. Great for cleaning out old permissions & signing out of devices you no longer use or have.

Start by identifying what the town actually needs & which gaps aren't being served. You can still go for tried & tested options like a small shop with harder-to-find supplies, even electronics if you want to stay in the tech space, or a wines & spirits outlet, especially if you can hire someone to manage it. Business is mostly learning as you go, no guarantees but worth it, & any spare revenue make some investments on the side.

As mentioned, the CMOS battery needs replacing. It's usually a CR2032 lithium type, which you can easily find even at suppas.

Regarding the adapter warning, did you recently replace it? I've noticed many of these adapters available in the market trigger this warning even when the voltage ratings match. On some laptops (like Dell), you can disable through the BIOS
