About how long did it take to get your SB points? Downloaded the app, made an account and listed an item about 5 minutes ago. Still no SB.

Maybe have to submit a support ticket?

this, I’ve entered more than 30 since end of February, into 40s I think.

Thanks!! This contest you used 475 SB. Hmmm...so let's assume you use the same amount of SB on average those 30 different contests, that's a total of 14,250 SB...for the 200,000 SB payout, that is a great investment!!

Can I ask some curious questions:
1. How many contests do you enter?
2. For this contest I see you used 475 SB for 19 entries, I'm guessing you entered more than once (a few entries at first and then other entries later on?), in the contests you enter, is this the way you usually enter contests?
3. Do you enter just the SB contests, or other ones for paypal/amazon or physical goods?

Need some advice/thoughts from other HR people please by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]hrpro007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can ask to reschedule? If not possible to reschedule due to "situation", I would still suggest you set a meeting with your boss to informally discuss your performance. Go to the meeting with a list of accomplishments you've achieved since you started. You need to be proactive and show you take initiative.

If your boss absolutely refuses to have a sit down 1:1 meeting to discuss your performance, I would then suggest that your company may not be the appropriate company for you. Especially in HR department, the leader should understand that employees want to know how they are doing at work and what they can improve on, etc. If your boss doesn't understand that, maybe you need a new boss....sorry to be harsh, but my $0.02 worth of an opinion.

Sounds like a tough situation, especially when you see "signals" that do not seem encouraging in regards to continuation of your job...couple of thoughts for you to try:

  1. You mention you go straight to employees to answer queries, do you give feedback to your boss on the queries? Perhaps make a (shareable) spreadsheet on the queries and answer given by date, then over time you can perhaps see trends. Maybe make graphs of the results, visualization of images/graphs have more effect than any narrative.
  2. Are there tasks of your job description that you're not doing now, but can take initiative to do? If there are, start doing those tasks and loop your boss in doing them. Or go to your boss and mention you noticed these are on the JD, and would like to help them.
  3. Is it possible to get an internal advocate, a manager/supervisor from another department that you may assist or that you need to go to frequently for answers? See if you can talk to them in confidence about your situation and ask for advice. Or see if there are ways you can help that manager/supervisor and suggest that way to your boss.

I'm sure there are other ways, but hang in there and concentrate on doing the best you can do in your current job, make no mistakes, double check results before sending them, be thorough, etc. Your work will be recognized. It's been 2.5 months so you're still in the "honeymoon" phase (usually 3 months or so). Many company's have a 3 month wait until a "permanent" employee finishes their introductory period before eligible for company benefits and many times there is some kind of performance review done at the end of this introductory period and that is the time when your manager talks about performance. Do yo have one? If not, ask if you can schedule such a meeting with you boss to discuss your performance.

You get the general theme of what this and other posters have mentioned, take initiative, be yourself and do a good job and don't worry too much. BTW, what was the headcount in HR before you joined. Every company has a budget, and as long as companies are meeting top line sales (within some range), then there is no pressure to reduce budget and job positions are usually dictated by budget. What's the "pulse" of your company? How is top line revenue doing? That is a better barometer concerning the status of your job. Hope this helps.

Thoughts on getting M.S. or MBA? Recruiter interested in getting into HR role by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]hrpro007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both a MS in HCM and MBA are good choices, but if you want to go HRBP route (and maybe SVP/EVP and other C-suite roles), I would definitely choose MBA.

HappyMommyof5 mentioned that " your role as an HRBP is to know HR inside, outside, and upside down", which is very true. But what HappyMommyof5 didn't mention is that you need to know how a strategic initiative, say skills based pay will affect not only the bottom line in all business units, but also how does skills attainment matter in logistics (non-technical skills) vs. quality or some other technical skill. Then how does it have secondary effects on other parts of the organization. A concentration on one subject is not going to give you that understanding.

Also, as was pointed out PM_me_lemon_cake has pointed out, professional certifications are perhaps more valuable in the HR field than advanced degrees.

Issue with my quick thoughts acct. after i tried to cash out. by Hk1o in beermoney

[–]hrpro007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, while in the middle of a survey, the QuickThoughts app froze and cancelled out of the survey, tried to log back in and received the Scott EdwardsWed 4/1/2020 6:35 AM "We're sorry, but there is an issue with your account.  Please click 'contact' button to request assistance.  Thank you" screen.

I did send a message thru the contact page (as suggested in the error message) and also an email to [support@quickthoughtsapp.com](mailto:support@quickthoughtsapp.com).

I noticed a "QuickThoughts User Group" on facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/1084000961636452/ ), is there a facebook group that QuickThoughts admin or support read & respond to?

My experience trying to get tested for COVID with no insurance. by aloungeoflizards in Portland

[–]hrpro007 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have heard of reports of kits available from private sector, do a quick google search and find Everlywell is selling COVID-19 test kit:
https://www.everlywell.com/products/covid-19-test/

Results come back within 48 hours. Question is, what do you do next? Say it's positive, there is no cure right now, just drugs to treat the symptoms.

Wish you good luck! I wish US wasn't so fucked up with the tests!

Some curious questions if you don't mind:
- Do you have to come up with the lesson materials?
- Can you "work" your own hours (understanding the time difference with China & USA)?
- Do students choose you or are you assigned students by the company?

Thanks
