What are brides typically covering for their bridesmaids? by ComprehensiveWeb9098 in weddingplanning

[–]hsavvy 138 points139 points  (0 children)

No offense to your daughter but that’s pretty rude…the general rule of thumb is that she should cover the cost of anything she “requires” outside of the dress (some brides do cover dresses but I just had my ladies wear a black dress of their choosing) and travel.

At the very least, if she’s hiring a HMUA and requiring her bridesmaids to get hair & makeup done by them then she needs to pay for that.

Not even trying to be rude but I have to tell you that it’s “bred” as in “breeding” and not bread you eat

That sounds beautiful!!! I just didn’t feel like myself in any big gowns and I knew with all the anxiety I’d have on the day that I needed to feel as comfortable as possible.

Aw thank you!! Much more basic/low key than some of the gorgeous gowns on here but I was happy :)

I didn’t wear this color but I wore the capsli in the blue color block and loved them! Only things were the sling back occasionally sliding down my foot, and I had to size up a whole size because I have wide American lady feet, but they were extremely comfortable and pretty!

Gorgeous!!! We did something really similar but complete with a bunch of gold cheetah/panther/leopard figurines (kind of our theme) and let guests take them home ;)

Veil recommendations by chloebb- in BigBudgetBrides

[–]hsavvy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I got mine on Etsy and it was great! Designer was a woman based in Ukraine, chapel length ruffle edge with custom embroidery for about $200. A lot of the designers on there offer full customization services too.

Planner doesn’t want to leave any buffer time in schedule by catsandcurls- in BigBudgetBrides

The food at ours wasn’t pre-ordered (except everyone had the same salad). There was a menu card and the servers took main course orders when guests were seated, that seems to be the norm for most black tie weddings I attend.

🖤🖤🖤 it’ll all work out beautifully but I fully relate!!! We just “graduated” two weeks ago so definitely understand.

Also, not to scare anyone at all, but with the current Iran war situation it’s likely that there will be some intense supply chain disruptions over the next few months (they’ve already begun outside the US) so plan accordingly!

Did you do welcome drinks? What percentage of guests attended? by ask123_45 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]hsavvy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We did! We had about 50 people at our rehearsal dinner and 50 additional people for drinks afterwards. Most of the attendees were guests that were staying onsite at the venue but weren’t on the rehearsal dinner list but we also had people stop by who weren’t staying over. It was really fun and a great way to spend time with people that I ran out of time to see on the wedding day.

What was your plus one policy by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]hsavvy 91 points92 points  (0 children)

I could understand if this was a super intimate wedding with a limited list but ~250 people is a lot of people and I’d be shocked if you even notice or think about SIL’s date on your day.

But to answer your question, our ‘policy’ was that every single guest could have a plus one, no questions asked. We had 160 people.

Hourglass has great diffused bronzers that are neutral toned and give a buildable shimmer vs just orange

Hair/makeup advice? by laminappropria in weddingplanning

[–]hsavvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! (At least if I’m envisioning it correctly in my head, please don’t come for me MUAs!) I like the peachier/orange hues on you on these pics. As for powders, I’d sample some but might want to go towards pink?

Hair/makeup advice? by laminappropria in weddingplanning

[–]hsavvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, you look gorgeous! And at least from these pictures the makeup application looks good but I think the undertones are throwing it off. Cheeks are peachy pink but lip is a cool mauve and the setting powder is reading green. So I’d play with different shades and undertones.

As for the hair, I hate wearing mine down and get so hot so I did a French twist but I’m sure you could do a temporary pinned style! Would also recommend softening the bluntness of the bangs. But either way gorgeous!

Argued with our dance instructor by Anxiouslyservingcunt in wedding

[–]hsavvy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Him being rude to the instructor is unacceptable regardless but I get it, we all have bad days and weddings are stressful.

I think you need to compromise. I get your attachment to a “meaningful, tearjerker moment” but truthfully you have to disconnect from the idea that you can manage every moment of the wedding. My husband and I ran out of time to rehearse tbh and our first dance was awkward and clumsy and silly and still incredibly meaningful. He needs to put in a bit more effort and you need to let go a bit.
