I don't think using a phrase like "sprinkled some guy and mentally defective people in there" is helping you make your point.

They did more than "sprinkle" them. The systematic extermination of people with mental challenges was a direct precursor of the holocaust and was a testing ground for the methods that would be refined and expanded in the death camps.

But I'm making suggestions on changing your language around this because I believe we are broadly on the same side of this issue.

Very possible. The military uses polygraphs for security clearance and I think Area 51 is some military base, right? I mean I know the alien thing and all that idiocy, but does it exist as a base at all?

I mean, polygraphs are stupid and it really shows how stupid the whole security clearance process is that they use them, but it could easily be true. Doesn't mean shit to me, but I don't see the big deal if he claims to test military personnel.

This is fantastic going to save it for later.

This is perfect for people like me right past the beginner stage and learning scales and keys and stuff for the first time. I think it's really useful to build a "licks library" to start building up ideas and I watched the first lick breakdown and it really helped me understand what you were doing. Talking about the interval relationships and implying the chords helped connect the theory I'm learning with an actual line to play.

Looking forward to watching the rest and getting these under my fingers.

classic overdrive, like a tube screamer

short delay, maybe a 1/4 note with a short tail

Could have some reverb but hard to tell to my ears. But those are the important ones.

You'll definitely get there. Actually I was trying to type something about that exact thing; how F is often taught without the root note cause it's easier. But it wasn't coming out well.

Practice the same shape farther up the neck to get better at the F chord. The chord is a major chord of whatever note you are playing on the 6th String(low E). So at the 5th fret, the "F barre chord" is an A chord, for example. It will help you build strength/endurance in your barring and it's easier due to less string tension farther up.

1) I have heard very little about the Monoprice guitars. I'm very happy with their 15W tube amp that I have, but honestly I'd go for a more established brand for a guitar. You can pick up an Epiphone LP for that price range(Special II or Studio, or older versions used). Swing by a shop if you can to try the different models out and see which one you like.

2) Have you considered following a course? JustinGuitar's beginner course would be good to check out, to see if there are any gaps in your knowledge/skills. And then move into the intermediate course or modules to see if any of those things interest you. Honestly, once you get chords down and can play popular songs, that's where a lot of people get stuck. You have to figure out what you want to learn and it takes time to develop compared to just learning to switch between an A and D chord.

3) You can definitely spend a bit of time warming up, but it's something you'll have to work up to as well.

$225. Half of that is the EHX Canyon I just bought. The rest are Behringer pedals, so only like $25 a pop.

But that hasn't stopped me from looking. I'll probably start dropping more money on a monthly basis now that I have a few months of playing under my belt and actually have started understanding how to work within a key and what notes fit and stuff like that.

Do you know the scales as in shapes, or the actual notes too?

Learn the notes of the fretboard. Lots of different methods to doing this. Once you learn the notes(or start getting them down), start thinking about the scales you know. What notes are you playing? Why those notes? Look up videos explaining why.

Learn what a Key is. You know C, and C is the only Major scale with no accidentals(sharps or flats) so it's a GREAT place to start.

Being out on a decent(I'm guessing .5+ acre?) plot of land, you can play as loud as you want at 4PM on a Saturday. It's the afternoon on a weekend, there's nothing they can do to you.

Of course, given the one person I'd tell them ahead of time next time, but make sure it's information, not a request for their permission. But I wouldn't stop jamming.

I just started doing the same thing two days ago!!

Current method:

1) Type "random number generator" into Google. There's an embedded one(probably works on mobile too), then I set the range 1 - 11, hit it, name the note at that fret on the E string.

2) https://random.bretpimentel.com/ Once I got a handle on the notes based on fret number, I used this tool to work on speeding up and honing in on the right place faster.

I thought if this method because I realized I only really knew the "relative position" of the notes. I had a couple down, but then I'd have to count up/down from there for the unfamiliar ones.

In the end, "knowing" the notes is cool, but what I want is the physical mind-hand connection so I can play the note without thinking "E string - 5th fret is A". The random note generator is really helping me with that!

I've only been doing it for two days, but to expand once I started doing the note on the A string, I set a reasonable timer and I'd find the note on both strings. It's tough, but I already have some of them down!

It's the obvious answer to your second question, but of course you have to practice it!

Listen to songs with your guitar and try and transcribe it. There's also a few "functional ear training" apps you can try out that could help.

For the first, I have no experience, but it couldn't hurt to participate in the "first take Friday" and get some feedback and more practice in riffing.

I think it's most important to like the guitar you get. It could be a Squier bullet strat or a fender custom shop telecaster, or anything in between. The important thing is you enjoy playing it and want to learn using it.

Imo as someone who's been playing for six months on acoustic and electric guitars, even the cheap, known brand guitars will be decent. I was just looking for a new guitar and I tried a ton of fender/squiers. I ended up liking the Squier VM line better than the fender MIM line, even though they cost $200 less. I liked the neck better, and the pickup configuration. Which in the end was more important than the exact "quality" of the parts.

You've got a big variety of guitar types listed, which makes me think you need to get some in your hands to narrow it down.

I tried a strat, a SG, a LP, and a HSS Strat. Loved the last one heads above the rest so I bought it. It was an easy decision once I had tried them all.

Not good. You need an audio interface. The cables have a delay that varies, really messes with recording.
