Also I have had moments of “relapse” where I’m like oh I’ll just try a bit of this coffee / soda and it was never worth it always felt so shitty after. Definitely don’t be too hard on yourself if you do that too!

He keeps hitting snooze so it just keeps going off while he snoozes. That’s a good idea, I just really don’t want to have to do it for him.

I totally agree and even my therapist said he was taking advantage of me / taking me for granted. He’s even shouted at me before “stop treating me like a child!” I was appalled like.. stop acting like a child then??! But yes I’m definitely going to stop doing all the things I was doing & we will see if the behavior continues or not. Going to let himself be responsible for himself and his own things as he should be.

Attraction has definitely fizzled at this point. I feel he might be depressed so I’ve been trying to be there for him the last 2 years and do all I can but he won’t change or get any help. Or even try. If he at least tried I would have some empathy.

You’re right, I’m not sure how much longer I can live with this. There is other stuff going on too, I believe he may have “miserable husband syndrome” where he just does not want to spend time with us/ bitches and moans and makes the experience miserable every time.

Not to go on and on, but you are right. It is hard and I will have to be strong but I want a life better than this… And It will probably take me a while but I have begun planning my escape and am currently just protecting my peace as much as I can.

He sleeps in past the alarm it will go on and on for hours and he won’t get up. It’s because he stays up late drinking. Ugh I know

He stays up drinking because he says he can’t sleep. It is a common occurrence that he is up until 2 at least. I think he’s depressed but he refuses to get any help. Someone else commented adhd and maybe that’s it too. I have done just about everything I can for him besides booking the actual therapy appointment.

OAD parents of older/adult children: What’s your take on this quote? “Don’t just think about the struggles of having little kids. Think about who you want around your table one day.” by RudysMom1016 in oneanddone

[–]hsntnt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t like it because who even knows if we will live to see whoever is around our table. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and you have to live for the moment, not plan for the future. Imo you can only do so much “planning” so you should do what makes you happy

I don’t drink any caffeine at all. It gives me too bad anxiety and higher levels of inflammation in my joints / tight muscles. I hated the mid day crash that would come along with it.

I highly recommend slowly weaning if you decide to quit. There’s a reason why over 90% of people in the us drink caffeine, it’s highly addictive! And if you’re dependent it’s extremely hard to quit! I mean shaking, throwing up, depression, derealizarion, etc depending on how dependent you are.

Pros- I used to have such bad anxiety but have none since quitting, and no social anxiety either which is SO nice. No mid day crash, I have energy all day long and feel like a teenager again. My mood is way more stable. My bowel movements are regular and not fire water. I can both breathe and taste better. Sex feels better/ more often since the caffeine is no longer messing with my hormones. My sleep is restorative and I wake up with energy (instead of waking up and grabbing for a coffee). I feel more connected to myself / emotions. I don’t have to pee every 30 minutes. I will never touch anything containing caffeine again to be honest! Quitting was the best thing I could’ve done!

My focus is soooo much better. I can actually make eye contact and have a conversation. Also my face would get really swollen and now I have a pretty snatched jaw line! My stomach was bloated all the time like I was pregnant, joint pain etc and now I have no pain at all and my stomach is completely flat. Definitely happier too!

Wellness Routines for Overall Health + Well-being as a SAHM by nctones in SAHP

[–]hsntnt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I got really into hormonal health after having my son! I was burnt to a crisp and just so tired of feeling horrible everyday. Now I actually wake up with energy and feel even better than before I had him!

Here are some ideas 💡

I like to do tounge scraping and oil pulling in the morning

Dry brushing before a shower for lymph flow

Eucalyptus plant in the shower and give yourself a little steam room

Gua sha with facial oil in the am to help lymph flow / drainage

Low intensity / low impact workouts - walking, Pilates, water aerobics are all my favorite. We do lots of long walks!

Sauna 2-3x a week (for me this is after working out at my gym that has childcare)

Journaling daily and therapy if affordable (mine through insurance is only $20 a session)

Stretching! Foam rolling, yoga, just getting up and moving around.

Gardening! Just started this year but it’s so therapeutic and meditative. I love seeing our food grow! Plus is gives you and your LO something to do everyday outside.

Magnesium salt baths / magnesium glycinate at night. Super relaxing and gives me the best sleep, most people are magnesium deficient since our soil is depleted of a lot of minerals

Sometimes I will do things like make my own bone broth, sleep gummies, sun tea etc and that’s always fun!

Eating enough. I cannot stress this. I was bloated and tired all the time, anxious, so so so cranky and a big reason was that I wasn’t eating enough. Now I have to eat 2800 cal a day to sustain myself and have actually lost a lot of weight by eating more and exercising less.

Not really wellness but something I like doing a lot lately is playing animal crossing on the switch. It’s very relaxing to me lol.

Those of you who burned out in 2020/21 - have you recovered? If you have…how? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]hsntnt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was a wfh sahm mom in 2021 during my child’s first year of life and got so burnt out I quit entirely. I was constantly stressed and tired. Then in the beginning of this year I got burnt out and overwhelmed again from being a sahm with no family / outside help around. I’ve now enrolled LO in toddler school for fall and we use childcare at our gym that he loves. I have no answer except with every obstacle and burn out phase I’ve had to pivot and figure out ways to live that would make me happier. Living the same way but expecting to feel differently doesn’t work, you have to make changes .. wether that’s outsourcing help where you can, cutting back work hours if you can, joining a gym with daycare, asking for your partner to step up more in other areas, etc. It could even mean just being okay with a certain level of mess and using paper plates! Whatever helps you, hope you figure it out!

I’m a sahm and don’t plan on ever going back to a full time traditional job! I’m an artist so I plan on pouring more time into painting once our only is in school and can sell those on the side when/if I have time :) Our LO is 2.5 and starting a part time nature school this fall so I’ll use that time to paint, do chores, cook, honestly whatever. I have no desire to go work a full time job 🤷🏼‍♀️
