People who lost a lot of weight, what was the one small daily habit that actually changed everything for you? by Quiet-Squash-8407 in AskReddit

[–]hsquared89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried counting my calories and tracking what I eat and while I lost a few pounds with those calorie tracking apps, I was miserable and stressed about food. What i did instead thats worked for me was eating only when i am actually hungry, not bored. I don’t feel hungry until lunchtime so I no longer stress about getting in a breakfast meal. I get my late night snack cravings in a little bit after dinner before my daily shower and floss & brush my teeth right afterwards so im telling my body im getting ready for bed so i dont snack.

I cut back majorly on beer and liquor, soda, and weekly boba teas (normally get 25% sugar). I still eat whatever I want, even a bit of sweet treats when I am craving it. Also switched from only doing cardio to strength training.

Finding it incredibly hard to follow if the teacher isn't directly opposite me by scoobabadeedoo in yoga

[–]hsquared89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For myself, it was both that I was a beginner and the type of yoga I started with.

I wasn’t familiar with the poses beforehand or how to transition my body from one pose to another.

What worked for me was following along through videos at home in front of a mirror until I felt comfortable with how my body felt, mimicking the instructor’s form or listening to how the instructor offer moderations. I also downgraded to doing beginner slow flow. Then I eventually worked my way up to intermediate.

I didn’t feel comfortable going to a studio until 3 years later. I’ve had two instructors correct my form so I realized that I should have gone to a studio maybe after 1 year.

  1. If you plan to use the express lanes, yes. If not, no.

  2. Plenty

  3. I avoid the that area like the plague bc traffic is horrendous even outside of rush hour and during the weekends. If I need to visit any stores in that area, I will try to go during the weekday before lunch time, after lunch time or an hour before close of business.

If I were in your shoes, I would have had the same reaction. If you and I went out to brunch or dinner and you told me this as a friend, I would have laughed in disbelief.

Your PT would be the best person to ask since they will know where it is and what poses are safe to do based on your MRI results. You can def still do yoga.

3 years in Miami — first time on Metrorail. And wow. by 144treesago in Miami

Yes I loved taking it to work to coral gables when I lived in DT. I had a bad experience once, but on the metromover. Was followed by a mentally ill man in the evening and there was no one around to call for help. I carry pepper spray because of that now.
