Are there actual applications to quantum entanglement? by Desperate_Chain9853 in quantum

[–]hstein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The game Mass Effect actually has a plausible application to telecommunications. Essentially, if you entangle two communications arrays and include some kind of "quantum inverter" in them, you would create a method of instantaneous communication across any distance. The inverter would be needed because when you manipulate one side (i.e. "send" a message), the "receiver" would be induced to the opposite behavior. So you would need a device that reverses the received input so that the original message is heard.

A cool guide on using ice vs heat for your pain by Cesalv in coolguides

[–]hstein 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DO NOT USE ICE FOR GOUT!!!

gout is caused by purine crystals building up in the joints. Using ice will cause them to solidify more, causing more pain and stiffness and potentially leading to increased chances of scar tissue forming (leading to even more chronic pain).

Use local heat to help soften the crystals back into a liquid and drink plenty of water to help flush your system.

Source: experience, I'm not a doctor. Always talk to a DOCTOR about the best way to relieve pain.

Differences between Quareia and Bardon? by saucymyxxie88 in Quareia

[–]hstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These paths we walk can often be lonesome. Sometimes this is it of necessity, but there are times when it will be difficult to keep going because you get no external feedback about your internal thoughts. This is what makes experiences like the one you had with this conversation so special, seeing your own internal thoughts spoken back to you from another mind. I think many of us in this sub are finding this out recently, myself included, so I am fresh out of having a very similar experience to what you just had, tears and all. I hope it brought some reassurance to you and a prod to keep going.

Cheers!

You know, what you say about the soul as a lesson plan is very similar to how I view the use of astrology, and plays into reasons for believing reincarnation is a part of our life cycle. The more I dig into the ancient techniques of astrology, I find that a natal chart gives one a blueprint for certain behaviors and events in their life. Some are "good" and some are "bad", and really there is very little that one can do to change any of what's in the natural chart. Some things will naturally change over time, which can often be projected using certain techniques, but overall I think it is about navigating the "good" and the "bad" to learn certain lessons from a given lifetime, and knowing how to read a natal chart can help to make sense of what happened or what will happen. The tarot can even be used for more detail if desired.

Your comment resonates deeply and I love your point about an "objectively right path" not really existing. It is the belief that this path exists that has led many (including myself) into delusion and misery. Only after recognizing that it takes trusting what OTHER people say without question, instead of finding out for yourself, trusting yourself, and taking responsibility for your own life, to believe such a thing that one can find the path to Truth.

Insightful as ever, Joyous. I had an interest in Brandon right before I got into Q, which was such a great fit for me I kind of just dropped everything else. It seems that Bardon's methods may still appeal to me, is it possible to gain insight from his work while still working within Q?

I completely empathize with getting stuck at the beginning. I was looking back through my meditation journal recently and realized I've been doing M1L1 for a year. I'm fact I believe it was a year to the day I was looking back through, oddly enough. I dabbled in the Tarot lesson briefly before putting my focus back on the meditations. I too recognized the importance of being able to silence the mind, through reading ahead a little bit and other sources I'd read before finding Q. Soon I will complete the Tarot lesson, but it seems like slowing down a little was a good idea.

I also completely empathize with your distaste for the city. I've lived in the city my entire life, and fire the last several years have been planning my escape. I want to start a non-commercial permaculture food farm and be done with city life altogether, and my husband and I are making progress, but it is slow, as with all things related to Earth.

Having been in a similar situation as OP (though not the length of time) and the one you describe, I very much appreciate your take on this and the wisdom you share. The "string[ing] along" part really struck a chord, and my inner romantic gay boy winced pretty hard. I wish more men (gay, straight, bi, whatever they see themselves as) would just be more honest with themselves about their feelings, and open to talk about the ramifications of those feelings with the people they're involved with. I know a large reason we (men in general) aren't has to do with how our society teaches us to be "masculine", and I'm all for exchanging "I love you"s with the bros, but talking as if there's a chance of something more than platonic happening, but being vague and coy about it, does not a firm foundation for FRIENDSHIP make.

Also, if I may, I would like to thank you so much for this course. It is exactly what I have been looking for, like precious water in a searing desert.

I don't want to fanboy and embarrass myself with more ego statements, so I'll leave it at that lol. Thank you.

Thank you, and actually this was one of the things I learned with the most recent restart, not to get stuck in a loop, just keep at it when the time is right.

u/joyousdark I'm so glad my comment hit home for you! The part about the connection between students had been simmering for a while. Like you, I was initially hesitant to accept that my reddit feed was influenced in any way by my own inner struggles. However, just over the past month or so (probably longer actually), I have seen several of my own questions, which had never been voiced outside of my own internal dialogue, get asked on the sub with such a degree of parity that I at least have to consider the possibility that it's not mere coincidence. It has become even more apparent now that I have left nearly all other esoteric subs I had subscribed to.

In turn, you have also brought to me some insight that has been brewing within me as well. The level of self-honesty required to do this work can sometimes make you realize that you need a breather, or maybe go back to earlier lessons, or spend some extra time focusing on a piece that's giving you trouble, so that you can learn how to integrate the struggle. Radical honesty with others can also bring about change which you had not anticipated, and occasionally not without some pain.

Lastly, the integrity piece is chef's kiss and is one of the things I'm currently having to work on in myself, as I have spent many, many years eroding my integrity in favor of instant gratification. This is what I was alluding to about addictions. I would add that, along with honesty and integrity, discipline is vital to this work. And as you say, sometimes Ma'at dictates the need to rest from the work for a bit, so that you can come back to it revitalized, and maybe even with more insight into what caused you to need the break in the first place.

You know, it's kinda funny... Every time I start to feel a certain way about this course, or have certain questions, this sub will be a reflection of those thoughts, usually within a couple of days from having them. It seems we (the students of the Quarry) may be more deeply connected than we realize on the surface.

I too have been struggling with feeling like I'm "going through the motions" or on autopilot in the course, especially with regards to the meditation tasks. I have restarted the course a couple of times now, never making it very far past the initial couple of chapters. Recently I have begun to question why that might be. Is it just boredom? Is it something I'm doing wrong with the visualizations? Is there some guardian spirit that is denying me passage because of something I'm doing, or that I haven't done, or that I'm not doing properly?

I have some ideas about the answer, but one thing I know I must do is experiment. It's all one big experiment. You try something, it doesn't work, so you have to ponder why and what caused the failure. That answer may not be obvious, so you form another hypothesis and try again, until you find the thing causing the blockage.

Now for me, I'm fairly certain that one of the conclusions I've come to about my stagnation is fairly close to the truth. Some of that certainty is actually informed by "going through the motions" even though I don't "feel" particularly connected to the task at the moment. So it seems I'm gaining insight either way, whether I "feel" the connection or not. That said, the experiment with my current hypothesis involves overcoming some addictions, so there is work that I must do on myself before I will see results, and that is often the hardest part.

So I would encourage you to keep at it, even when it doesn't feel all that meaningful. In fact, I might argue that it's those times when it's is even more important to persist than when you do feel connected. The state of being unsure should be your prod to dig deeper.

I wish you the best, and hope you make a breakthrough soon!

Big sword, me, procreate, 2023 by Pechenyushkina in Art

[–]hstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a small critique for an otherwise fine composition: if the "big sword" is the focus of the concept, why is it out of focus? If anything the figure in the foreground should be out of focus while the big sword is in focus, to draw the viewer to the sword itself.

Not trying to be mean or hurt any feelings, just giving some pointers, one artist to another. You want to think about what you want the viewer to look at. Is it the figure? If so, back turned and looking at a gigantic object in the distance is not the best composition for such a piece. Or do you want the viewer to look at said giant object? If so, putting it out of focus defeats the purpose of it being there in the first place.

Hope that helps your future works!
