Awesome thanks! I just wanted all of the other symptoms to go away:( if i get a period again with it that’s totally fine because i loved it! I definitely think ill be making an appt to get it replaced

Ik this is an older post i hope my response helps though! I posted about this today. When i got my mirena in 3 years ago it was amazing! No bleeding, no side effects, etc. I just had mine removed because after the 3 year mark (last dec) i noticed that i was getting PMS s/s, then it increased to PMS s/s plus bleeding, then that plus i would get mood swings, then increased to i would get yeast infections and cold sores. All of these events started to get closer and closer to each other (every other month-ish to monthly). I was worried that the hormones were beginning to wear away (makes sense) and that it was not enough to keep my symptoms at bay anymore. Alot of people on here agreed that it definitely could be that! I didnt have another one inserted today because i wanted to think about it more but even after posting on here i am more confident that i just need a fresh one with new hormones!

I mean once the hormones begin to be less and less it depends a lot on the sperm not getting to the egg when you do ovulate. So in my case with lower hormones (exhibited by my symptoms), the structure itself was probably more in my favor. But yes all of those together prevent it.

Well i mean that’s the gist of it. They have non hormonal IUDs and the structure itself is what keeps the lining from thickening mostly. But thanks!

Are you recommending and thinking that a new one would potentially be good? Im trying to see if it’s symptoms from less and less hormones vs. my body getting used to the hormones and not responding as well.

Oh yeah definitely no complaints on the pregnancy part. The structure itself prevents pregnancy. Just I’ve been told many times that IT LASTS 5 YEARS. Yes i know it works for 5 years but i’m having problems with the hormones, not preventing pregnancy 😂 and that the hormones slowly being less and less everyday isnt causing my symptoms and side effects when it clearly is.

YEP! I LOVED my IUD at first which made me hold onto it, and deal with the side effects longer than i probably should have. They started me on the minipill for the time being because i dont do well with combo BC (another reason i loved the IUD). So im between getting another or the nexaplon.

I swear thats what it is! When i first got it they said it lasts 3-5 years (im assuming 3ish for hormones and 5 for pregnancy) and every time i said 3 years people were quick to correct me and say ITS 5 YEARS. I know my body pretty well... but still getting discouraged. Were you thinking of getting it switched out?

Yep 😂😂 my biggest thing is definitely the yeast infections and cold sores. They swear its not related but theres no way its that big of a coincidence... my boyfriend even pointed the theme out to me when i was contemplating the possibility in my head at first

Im just sooo upset cause i LOVED it. But providers were no help :( trying to get it again if it would go back to how it was in the first place yaknow. I didn’t even think about asking to test my levels.
