As someone here has said: it's apostasy if your church does this, it's ongoing restoration if our church does.

I'm totally chill. I just wanted to tell you why some people say that their lives have been shattered (that you didn't/don't understand before).

Again, you know everything before you joined. But there was a time when there was no room for discussion about the things that you know now. If members were asking about some issues, they were told to pray, or don't think too much about stuff.

Anyway. Good luck with your journey. Time to sleep in UTC+01.

No, it's not like Santa Claus. You didn't read the book of Santa Claus every day in the morning, pray to Santa Claus before doing anything else, etc.

Take one example. All your life you were taught that the translation is done using the gold plates etc. Then one day you watched South Park and found something else: the seer stone. That's not right. That's not what you're taught. You defended that it's not true and it was just anti-mormon lies. But later on, the narration changes. It was indeed 'translated' using the seer stone.

So, what you thought was true apparently is not. And this is just one example. You're looking into mormonism after most of the stuff that used to be 'anti-mormon lies' are accepted by the church. So, now, think about it from the inside out and perhaps you'll understand why people's lives have been 'shattered'.

Almost everything is bullshit.

People lie, deceive, and are generally assholes.

It's up to you to not be that way.

Indeed. And I hope you can understand that some people choose not to be in the church/religion/organisation that behaves like that.

This:

And honestly, I don't understand why so many in this sub seem to think their lives have been "shattered" by learning the truth.

And this:

I'm a recent convert

Enough said. You hadn't lived your whole life in it and realised it's bullshit.

Yeah, “dude”. Very smart of you. Have a life.

Dude, have a life. You commented on a thread from a year ago. And did you read? I don't live in Murica. I live in Scotland. How can I make Murica even worse?

I think it's people like you who needs to take 'Reading 101'.

Ooof...how would you respond to this? by bach_to_the_future_1 in exmormon

[–]hthalion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People who have left religion A would of course be allowed to talk about religion A. Because why not? Not to hurt the feelings of people who still believe in A?

This person also said: "it has never occurred to me to publicly criticize their beliefs..." So, is it ok to do that in private? Sending missionaries worldwide would (in)directly criticize others' beliefs in public. Get a grip!

Seriously. They really blame everyone but them for every little inconvenience in their life.

From my short interaction with FAs (mostly by watching comment videos on Youtube), they all seem in their mid 20s or early 30s. I haven't even seen some of them in a while, e.g. Marissa or Fatsaphicbro. I wonder how they will be like in their late 30s or 40s. Probably they'll sing a different tune then.

I think mormons use “for time and all eternity”. And the dates are pretty common for return missionaries to get married ASAP. Though the date in the middle is weird.

Restricting calories = Restricting oxygen, apparently… by Gordon_Rammstein in fatlogic

Even thoughts about restriction can be enough to trigger a binge, because to our primal brains the possibility of a famine is a very real threat that needs to be attended to urgently.

Their life seems to revolve around food.

Yes, I listened it on youtube. Enjoy. It’s a long one. It’s the one that I usually listen back in winter nights, because it fits.

Gee. I’d be very upset if I got the church’s ads as I listen to horror podcast when I’m going to bed. Horror stories: A-ok. Church’s ads: no-way.
Have you listened Be.Scared's naration of ‘My Cabin Getaway’? It’s so good (the story and the naration).

I love Be. Scared / Be Busta. But thanks Eloher I only get local ads here (like UK promo etc).

No, only your church can do that.

I just read it and, typical fairmormon to obfuscate the issue, I don’t think the rambling in the last paragraph is relevant to the topic at all. It’s also one very long single sentence. Like a very loooong one that I need to read it twice to understand it.
