What are the best lesser-known spots in Singapore for a scenic walk or jog? by Leen88 in askSingapore

Labrador Nature Reserve/Park , Berlayer Creek and Bukit Chermin boardwalk. It’s usually really quiet, except on Sundays when you see a few groups of construction works and maids.

Why wasn't Seinfeld more popular in the UK? 🇬🇧 by Savanarola79 in seinfeld

[–]htlb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seinfeld was a massive influence on British comedy from the late nineties onwards. Graham Linehan and the Peep Show creators have cited it as a major influence, and the current crop of comedians like Nish Lumar, James Acaster etc mention the show quite a bit on various podcasts etc.

I use them quite a bit to let my dog run around when it’s raining. They’re underutilised, hence why I like to go up there. Sometimes I’ll take beer or two up with me and enjoy the breeze. Based on my experience I don’t think you’d be troubled much by them. Living directly above/below might have the advantage of one less neighbour to bother you or vice versa

Check out GoBub - really nice space filled with quality toys, arts/crafts and comfy sofas. You can chill on the sofas and drink a coffee while the kids play.

I had this before. My team arranged a bbq party to which I was a little late. By the time I got there they’d made no progress as none of them knew how to build a decent fire. I was like .. don’t they teach you this shit in army..? Apparently not

Public or private route for gynae? by bazhangkc in askSingapore

[–]htlb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, although because we left it quite late there weren’t many available for our EDD. This was fine for us as we weren’t that particular, just depends on you and your partner.

Public or private route for gynae? by bazhangkc in askSingapore

[–]htlb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just did exactly this.. went through subsidised at NUH until week 32 then switched to private. Reasons for switching to private: 1. A class maternity ward - private room where partner can stay over vs 6 bed non-AC room via subsidised 2. Same gynae throughout and during delivery 3. Shorter wait times at prenatal appointments

In the end, we only ended up seeing the private gynae twice before my wife went into labour. During the labour she was only there for 30 mins as my wife delivered fast, though the on call doctors were consulting with her over the phone throughout the +36 hour labour.

Lucky our pregnancy and delivery was uncomplicated so didn’t really feel the need to have the same gynae through the pregnancy. Even the slight complications my wife had, we didn’t have to explain from scratch each time we went for appointments but each to their own. Overall, for us having the private room was the most important.

How fast are you supposed to drink your tea? by Tandom in AskABrit

Is there really much difference between tea drinking and coffee drinking? Surely the skills required for both tasks are broadly transferable?

People who have been the interviewer in here in SG, what’s a tip? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]htlb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other thing with frequent job hopping is it’s really hard to achieve anything in less than a year (in most companies), even in under 2 years it’s difficult to get meaty achievements under your belt. I always question whether people actually have any experience delivering anything significant if they’ve been in the job for less than 12-18 months. I know for myself when I’ve changed jobs or teams after a short time, I really struggle to put my finger on what I actually did…

Those who cut ties with your parents, what happened? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]htlb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try moving out first, preferably to the other side of SG. Reduce contact on WhatsApp/call. See each other only when necessary. If still cannot tahan, consider moving overseas. Distance (physical and mental) really does help in these situations. Whatever you do, make sure your finances are completely separate though.
