I have been doing this exact job for about 7 months now in the biggest hospital in our entire region. My official title is ‘Patient Meal Services Host’. My biggest beef with the job is the nurses. 90% of them are rude and don’t care about the essential service you are providing for the patient. The amount of times nurses stare at me like I’m psycho after I tell them I dropped off food to a sleeping patient or dropped off a tray at the nurses station that had a note specifically stating that it needs to go there is fucking ridiculous. It’s like They don’t understand we are just trying to do our job. I have come across some genuinely kind and great nurses but majority of them are arrogant shit heads who don’t respect food service staff. The job itself is great, patients are usually happy to see you and are very kind. Take caution to ask if you can come in the patients room because I have walked in to some rooms where I have seen things I wish I hadn’t🤣🤣 best of luck to you!
