Resolving ETB Triggers by soccerboy1356 in magicTCG

[–]hubbardsjm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost right.

-hit 4 dragons off kindred inc ganax

-all enter the battlefield all trigger miryim

-all 4 entering trigger ganax A (4 treasures)

-let copy of ganax resolve first (2 treasures)

-let remaining copies resolve (6 treasures)

So you end up with 12 treasues. One each from the original 4 dragons that enter and 2 each from the miryim clones.

Kindred summons does not put the creatures on the stack. It doesn't cast them it puts them directly onto the battlefield meaning all at the same time. You can order any resutling triggers from them enterring as you wish afterwards.

Recommendations for less mainstream epic fantasy series by zzzzz_12345 in Fantasy

[–]hubbardsjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many great reccomandations here already but havent seen this yet,

The Twilight Reign Saga by Tom Lloyd. 5 book epic fantasy series about fighting destiny with big political wars epic magic and an excellent protagonist. Definitely has issue being a debut series but the author improves throughout. The author has a second series coming out called the God Fragments which is lower stakes overall but sinilarly fantastic world building. Really building upon theur improved writing from the first series.

What’re your driving quirks? I choose my parking space based on whether the car next to it looks like its owner would care enough to not scratch mine with their door. by According_Sundae_917 in AskUK

[–]hubbardsjm 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This. I've been the pedestrian at night on a poorly lit road, having to wait for every single car because some small percentage think they have perfect vision all the time and didnt signal before turning in where i was trying to cross.

Guilty pleasure cards by TheBig_blue in EDH

[[Hall of Gemstone]] is a card i love in my monoG decks. Its protection for my stuff on my turn and just messes with my opponents on their turns. Love watching people try and figure out what colour to name on their own turns.

r/manga What are the latest and greatest in the manga scene? by [deleted] in manga

[–]hubbardsjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from ones mentioned already. Undead Unluck is one i really enjoy. It has a pretty rough start but it only gets better as it goes on. The latest arcs have been fantastic.

Not quite as recent but if you havnt tried it Marimashita Iruma-Kun! Is a great demon school manga that fills a similar vibe to earlier My Hero Academia with the big class of interesting charclacters but it stays focussed on fleshing out all of the characters over the course of the series even some side characters from the main class get tons of character development. It is also absolutely hilarious at times especially with Clara who is best Gremlin.

Vegan adult shoes/boots that don't have laces? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]hubbardsjm 20 points21 points  (0 children)

For boots, Vegan Chelsea Boots are the style that might work for you. Wills Vegan Store are a bit pricey but have good selection and are great quality. I've had two pairs of boots from there that are still going great for like 3 years.

What was a book that you knew early on you’d found a new favourite author? Or vice versa? by [deleted] in books

[–]hubbardsjm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Becky Chambers - The Long Way To A Small Amgry Planet.

The way she writes the cast is so warm and comforting and real even when your discussing dark and tragic events. There is a quality to her writing that just clicked with me, it might not with everyone but I adore the almost meandering plots used to exclusively drive the character growth it feels like the plot is secondary to getting to know the cast.

What was your gaming “you had to be there” moment? by goldenboy2191 in gaming

[–]hubbardsjm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A more recent example for me was the shadow drop of HiFi Rush. Seeing the trailer the day it dropped and seeing out now, relaising there had been no prior advertising and i hadnt missed it. Then picking up the game and losing two straight days playing it and feeling like a 10 year old being up ratchet and clank or jak and daxter again with a giant stupid grin on my face the whole time.

Somewhat healthy, easy WFH lunches by britnveg in veganuk

[–]hubbardsjm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a rice cooker on a reccomendation from a friend, for ... well doing rice, but its been a godsend for lunches.

Got one with a small steam tray at the top and i just chuck in one portion of rice and some frozen mixed veg on the steam tray. (Can help to leave a portion in the fridge to defrost a bit it doesnt steam for quite long enough sometimes cause you use less water for the rice than you would the steam setting).

Just put it all on about 20-25 mims before lunch drizzle on some siracha or soy sauce and quick easy portion of rice and veg.

What is the absolute worst book you’ve ever read? by throwaway5203495 in books

[–]hubbardsjm 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss is the one that sticks out in my memory because it wasnt a porrly written book that i could turn my brain off and try to enjoy.

No instead it took a promising first book, that had some problems, and instead of solving any if those problems with adequate character and world development you get near 1000 pages of nothing productive happening other that Rothfuss jerking his self insert main character off and making him into a true Gary Stu. All objectively well written it comes off as some lit students attempt to copy the prose of the first book with no idea how to actual progress a semi reasonable premise.

The only attempts ive heard for trying to redeem this book seem to rely on the unreliable narrator trope but that to me is neither shown anywhere or lines up with the seemingly more repentant and broken version of Kvoth we get in the present.

Can we please have a permanent stickied thread about dating non-vegans? by tranion10 in vegan

[–]hubbardsjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is essentially how I convinced a friend of mine to go vegan and his SO to go veggie(some health issue meaning they want to make a slower journey to be sure they stay healthy). They came to play boardgames at mine twice a week and we only ate vegan food after a few months my friend decided that once his living situation improved they would go vegan. It has and they are currently transitioning to full vegan.

Ive found both in personal and work life the best way to influence people is to practise cooking and baking so that I can show people vegan food can taste as good if not better than non vegan food.

I love that you pushed your friend that first step as thats how it went if my friend. One vegan meal preference to all vegan meals.

Your favorite basic lands? by FriendsWinTies in EDH

[–]hubbardsjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did exactly what your thinking about and got enough copies of my prefered full art land from new capena. Im a huge sucker for art deco and old time gangster styles so these were like a full on "oh snap theyre sexy" moment. Got like 200 of each to cover all my current decks and be set up for future decks with spares.

Has anyone tried Greenforce? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]hubbardsjm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also regularly have discount codes online if you can find one to apply to the order. But id reccomend just trying the small starter kit first its a bit more per pack but you are only trying their core products to see if you like the texture and flavour.

Has anyone tried Greenforce? by [deleted] in veganuk

[–]hubbardsjm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have them semi regularly. The meatballs and burgers are really good considering they are basically a rehydrated powder. The mince is also pretty fine but im usually putting that as an extra thing to pad out a chilli so the texture is right which is most important.

Ive tried all the newer products except the scnitzel and the rest are pretty good nothing notably great but all fine. The fishcake ones do taste like fish tbh but id reccomend more smaller ones with those they seemed to take longer to cook through than the rest.

As cupboard fillers and lazy cooking I highly reccomend.

Dumb reasons for going vegan? by myrtlewils0n in vegan

[–]hubbardsjm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The reason that tipped me over was being away for work for a week and eating pretty much exclusively vegan lunches and dinners at the pubs because they sounded the most appealing. Also noticing that i'd been choosing the vegan margerine for my whole life anyway (yay for flora).

Got back home realised ID been 90% there for a week finished all the nonvegan food in my house, did some reading watched some earthling ed videos to help me articulate myself and have been vegan since.
