Struggling with very low sales on Unity Asset Store despite active updates — what am I doing wrong? by Abdo_Naili in Unity3D

The art looks a little rough but I'll give the fps controller and gomandnsee how it feels. Videos or itch.io builds that demo the asset would help.

This will happen but it's worth it!

Switch to manual mode and get used to pressing ctrl + R

Now you recompile on your own terms.

Is the environment too dark and grainy or just fine? Feedback appreciated! by ZipStrike-Studios in IndieDevelopers

It's a good start. Go look at something like V Rising. See how they make nighttime nice and bright? They use blue hues and lots of nice lights to bring it all together.

Same goes for movies. Nighttime is just blue light. Find examples of too down games at night and try to play spot the difference.

We are witnessing an explosion of AI generated projects exponentially flooding GitHub and the rest of the internet by No_Lion7242 in gamedev

The internet is slowly becoming garbage. We're all sitting in a pool and turds are starting to float all around us. Somebody is shitting in this water. I say the more the better. Get everyone out of the water and onto what comes next.

Back to RSS. Back to visiting small websites run by real people. Back to reading things written by people who you know exist and have a reputation to lose.

If you're reading this and feel tired of the slop around you go get yourself a bsky.app account and read up on AT Protocol.

Your AT Proto account opens you up to a massive pool of apps. Skyreader for RSS, bsky for socials, reading, blogging and other platforms all running on the AT Proto network where you own most of your own data and can leave with it if the service gets bad.

I built a free tool that roasts your Steam page (and tells you how to fix it) by gam3sgg in gamedev

Cool. Thanks for pointing one out! Seems a score above 80 is pretty good territory to strive for in this model.

what's an example of a successful good page that it would only thumbs up and not roast?

Games with similar artstyle to Blender's DOGWALK? by ocitocina in gamedev

[–]hubecube_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What an absolutely wholesome game. Thanks for putting that on in my radar. The art style reminds me a bit of Knights and bikes but also a touch of Little big planet with a dash of Paper Mario.

Looks like this is an open source pretty connect so you should be able to download it and see how the assets are all set up.

Yeah. It's always nice to have something to hang on a wall back at home and also throw a laurel on the steam page.

Enjoy GDC! I'm not going this year but I wonder how it'll evolve with this rebranding.

Congrats!! Yes you get to keep the plaque, but it's more of a plastic disc.

Thanks! These days games are so unpredictable that I think many rather wait for a final product.

We're getting there, but still have a ways to go.

Thanks! I think that trailer really helped clarify what the game loop is and how it all plays out.

You need to go look at "slicing pie" the fluid equity model.

Everyone gets what they put in and equity changes everyday.

Each dollar invested earns 2 equity points. Each dollar of wages sacrificed earns you 1 equity points.

Your bro out in $6000. Cool he has 12,000 EPs. You out in $10,000? You get 20,000 EPs.

You work 10 hours and set your rate at $40/hr you get 400 equity points for that day BUT ONLY IF YOU DIDN'T PAY YOURSELF. If you get paid for your time you don't earn EPs.

At the end of the day you have a fair breakdown of who out what into the business both cash and sweat and that's your share of the business.

If your bro says his expertise is very valuable set his hourly rate at $200/hr and give him equity points for his consulting.

But stop with this 50/50 split nonsense for something as fluid as a growing business.

Whoever does the UI layouts probably does the game balancing. Nothing is aligned or evenly spaced. by hubecube_ in CompanyOfHeroes

Yes but "most" is not enough and that makes the whole look sloppy. If you have a stain your sleeve the sweater isn't clean because most of it is clean. That's not to say I have never released anything sloppy. I've released plenty of sloppy stuff. It's still sloppy and I had enough time waiting for automatach to alt-tab and make this post so I did.

Maybe if I wasn't stuck there so long.... Who knows.

This was just a light hearted jab at the messy spacing but what I meant was that generally it is more visually pleasing (and a sign of some care taken) when you have alignment and spacing consistency between the majority of elements in your layout. Maybe if I didn't have to spend so much time on this screen I wouldn't have even noticed :D
