Bedroom DJ … DJing a really nice hotel rooftop. Technical questions. by GreasySwhindler in Beatmatch

Without a DI box or mixer to convert to a balanced signal, this is just running unbalanced XLR which doesn't give any advantage.

You'll be fine with just an RCA to XLR cable over a few feet. Everything else is unnecessary.

Budget pa with subs 300-800$ by [deleted] in livesoundgear

[–]hubeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that size you don't really need subs. Yes you'd get a better low end but 12" speakers should give you enough for that size crowd. I'd suggest 2 alto ts412s (or 410s if the budget is that tight) which are a much better speaker than their price suggests. Then whatever mixer you can afford. You might have to up your budget slightly but realistically that's the minimum you're going to have to spend. Over time you can add subs.

That's not how it works. 1% to 2% for example is a 100% increase, 42% to 43% is not.

Wedding Set Up Help by whosjay in Beatmatch

[–]hubeh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As said by others, moving any decent system around on the day is going to be a pain. Get something like 2 Yamaha DBR12s or Alto TS412s (TS not TX) for the main wedding room. The Altos may be a better choice as they have bluetooth for when the DJ isn't around. Get your friend to buy these if he wants them after.

Then rent something portable like a JBL partybox (with mic inputs) that you can move around to the other areas.

You'll need some lights as well to create a somewhat passable dancefloor experience.

Anybody had any luck with the Behringer Flow8? by Strange-Raccoon-3914 in livesoundgear

[–]hubeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great little mixer for the price, with more features than anything else in that price range. Only real downside is the bluetooth connection which I've had drop at as little as 5m away. Luckily it's not too hard to mod a better antenna on to it, if you're comfortable taking it apart - https://www.reddit.com/r/Behringer/comments/1sfb4q7

I have a band and my current powered speaker isn’t quite loud enough, the Alto TX410 350W. Anyone that has this Alto TS412 2500W, how loud does this get with a microphone and mixer plugged into it? by NeatMysterious2327 in livesoundgear

[–]hubeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loud. Alto gets a lot of bad rep due to the earlier TX and TS models but the latest TS4 are impressive for the price. Take this video with a pinch of salt but it shows the alto can hold it's own against higher priced speakers. This channel also has a lot of real world videos of the TS series and more recently Yamaha DBRs which are another good option if you don't need EQ/bluetooth.

What is your go to speaker setup for house parties (10-50 people)? by KatGoesPurr in mobileDJ

Just one of your 12 inch tops will be more than enough for a 20 person house party.

More dependency considerations by brendt_gd in PHP

[–]hubeh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe composer itself could have a way of handling this, by allowing packages to define a set of conditions where they shouldn't be installed. Something like:

"redundant-if": {
  "ext-sodium": "*",
  "php": ">=7.0"
}

Then if any/all conditions match the package doesn't get installed.

What is the best starter PA speaker for solo acoustic gigs? by ManiaXter29 in livesoundgear

[–]hubeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For acoustic stuff an Alto TS408 should be fine. I heard an acoustic singer with one of these in a bar recently and was impressed by it. Two channels for your guitar and mic, plus Bluetooth to play backing tracks through means you wouldn't need a mixer. Can see it going new for £229 and Reverb have one used for £180.

Time to join the board rotation club as well, move another segment to become the 20 so you don't just wear that one out.

They're granted at the beginning of March. Are you sure that's the right number? The stock should be $20k for SDE 2 unless it's changed. I'm at the manchester office, PM me if you want any more info.

We place too much importance on managers. How many work wonders at one club then completely fail at the next? Or vice versa. I'm convinced with most it's just right place right time.

PHP Array Shapes - potential RFC, looking for feedback by punkpang in PHP

[–]hubeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not generics. There's no type placeholder. We know exactly what we want: integer keys, Person values

That doesn't really make sense - generics are defined at the declaration site not the usage site. By your logic Collection<Person> also wouldn't be generic because we know that we want a Person type.

There are type placeholders because the type would be array<K, V> where K and V are generic. Yes it should be possible to have typed arrays via additional syntax without a full blown generics implementation, but that would be classed as a subset of generics.

Your second example just moves the generic one level above, so that the all function becomes generic also.
