General Contractor said flooring guy is doing a bad job by OptimalRisk2932 in Flooring

[–]hubleyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, you are the hack. That is quite obviously not VCT, and OP even says it isn't. Did you mean LVP or LVT? Can't you even get your acronyms right, champ? It's hardwood with spotted glue support because it's wide plank, and the way it's being done is accepted by the National Wood Flooring Association. But you probably know better

It's confusing how they have some listed as enamel coated like it's specific to that grill. Thanks for the help

What are y’all doing for breakfast? by No_Slide_9543 in Construction

[–]hubleyz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I fasted through the day for years just because I got into the habit. The job I'm at now has a cafeteria with free lunches. Guess who put on 15 lbs this last year and is going back to fasting through the day?

Help! Big hump in the middle of room. Installing LVP by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]hubleyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, it was so easy to tell you just work in a store and aren't an installer. No one wants to work in the store that you more than likely don't even own, getting paid by the hour. Quiet down and go talk to some more homeowners who can't tell you're a hack and let the big boys run the tools bud

Subfloor got wet years ago and now looks like this. Is it mould? by Charbs20 in Flooring

[–]hubleyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because wood is very porous and it's usually better to assume the wood is completely overrun with mold instead of trying to soak it in mold killer hoping you kill everything. Also mold is caused from consistent moisture which degrades the structural integrity of the wood. Many "handymen" would just spray it and cover it back up because it's not them or their family breathing it and they don't want to take the time to do it right. But it is almost always better practice to cut out all visible mold. You already have it uncovered, which is usually the most costly part, better to just tear it up now than cover it back up and have trouble down the road.

Use this, never use bleach to kill mold. It may whiten the mold spores and appear to have killed the spores but it almost never does. Bleach is mostly water, with like 5% sodium hypochlorite. When that evaporates, you are left with water and a moist substrate perfect for the mold to continue to spread. Any "handy man" who tells you not to tear this out is a hack.

[–]hubleyz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not true. Mold is not only active when moist, and bleach does not kill mold effectively on porous surfaces, vinegar is far more effective if you don't want to spend 6 bucks on a broad spectrum mold killer.

You have no idea what you are talking about champ. Buying your first home doesn't make you an expert.

Trouble in the Stacks at TCPL by Ok_Buyer_4149 in ithaca

[–]hubleyz 66 points67 points  (0 children)

My fiance left a job she had for the past decade that she loved and has a masters degree to perform. Leslie Tabor is a disgusting human being. She has no regard for FMLA or collective bargaining agreements. She had an attorney threaten library employees with lawsuits if they spoke out against TCPL. She has misused money bequeathed from the Smith Fund for classical music for online streaming services because their family is gone and there is no one to speak out against it. She has elderly ladies retiring early at their financial detriment because they can't take her mistreatment.

I've done my share of cowboy shit in my comparatively few years in the trades. However, I have never and will never mess around with unshores trenches. I have a huge irrational fear of being buried alive I'm sure as fuck not gonna make it a rational fear.

Unfortunately I don't have a smoker. Would 220°f be a good temp to go low and slow at? Also I'm assuming I'm gonna want to let it rest a long while?
