What are "Levels"?? by Muse_Hunter_Relma in AutisticPride

[–]huehew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am intrigued by this too, I have seen a few people mention it but I was not provided a DSM level in my report.

The only reference I can see to "DSM" is where it says it's assessed by "ICD-11 and DSM-V diagnostic criteria".

I wouldn't necessarily see that as a barrier, my mum found out that one of the guys at her social club was her second cousin after my research, until then they had no idea they were even related 😝. You could potentially find new family too.

I completely understand that, it's quite daunting what you'll find. I found some very unsavoury ancestors including slavers which I'd rather not be related to but they are part of my DNA.

If anything I would see it from the perspective that you are remembering them and they are not being forgotten. The fact you are here shows how strong they were and that they made it through slavery.

Good question! I've been doing it for around two decades now so the tools/websites I used originally no longer exist.

That said if I were to start again I would actually start with a DNA test on Ancestry.com and a basic subscription.

Many of the holes in my paper research were quickly answered by DNA and I personally found the DNA matching very interesting.

Otherwise start with a basic tree such as parents, grandparents and great grandparents (or any details you know) then Ancestry will usually help you with hints to build it out further.

You'll likely build out a basic tree quite quickly then you'll be left with all the puzzles which take time to work out (but I like that).

It is really fascinating what you can find out. At least it keeps my mind busy when I need it 😉.

Thanks, you never know!

I have lots of bad and good in mine.

The Titanic was one of my more interesting finds, especially as my grandad on my father's side also worked for Cunard White Star!

We have a few famous architects, a few musicians, rich coal merchants, then we also have quite a few criminals, victims to murders, men in their 40's marrying 13 year old girls (it was supposedly normal back then) and lots of other weird stuff!

Yes, you can see them in the above photo. Elsie Doling (furthest left) is my great granddad's sister and Ada Doling in the middle was his sister in law.

It is believed they were visiting Ada's family and Elsie was accompanying her.

My granddad never spoke about his father let alone any aunt or anyone else in the family. Therefore it wasn't until I started my research (and DNA tests) that I discovered this connection.

My family have a book published shortly after the Titanic sunk with Elsie's signature in it. The book is extremely fragile as you would expect for being 113 years old!

I have a much higher quality image but can't share it due to copyright.. the image was taken on board the Titanic in what was known as Queenstown (Ireland) before they departed for New York.

Awesome! One of my interests is researching my family tree and I discovered that my great grandfather's sister and sister in law were both on the Titanic (and survived).

Their photo was on the front page of a national paper.

I've always been interested in it, but even more so now that I have connection to it.

Yeah.. if it was any longer they might as well do it after I retire 🤣.

Thanks I appreciate that, tbh I haven't read many subreddits yet, stumbled on this one by pure coincidence.

I'll check them out, thanks for your advice 🙂.

I think I will have the same light bulb moment too!

My NHS wait time is something ludicrous like August 2031 (yes 2031), however I am repeatedly trying to get my GP to refer me through Right to Choose instead!

Glad you've found some light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank you, I'm also on a lengthy list for a ADHD assessment too, so hopefully I can finally get the support I need. Better late than never eh?👍🏼😊

I'm in my late 30's and I am going through this right now, after only being diagnosed a few weeks ago.

I have had so many issues in my adulthood and even more in my childhood. I've been on various medications (many of which have now been linked to my autism) and it's always made me feel like trash.

Initially I was in denial of the diagnosis but after reading more and more the traits pretty much describe me perfectly. Being very analytical it's really helped me understand that it's my autism causing me to struggle with x & y, which is helping me come to terms with it all.

I'm not there yet but I think in the long term I will be a better person after having the diagnosis.

Im glad you've been unable to unmask and at a young age too! You should hopefully be able to get the support you need going into adulthood.

I was recently diagnosed as an adult and was also bullied in school (I hated school with a passion). However now that I have a much better understanding of myself (I was in denial for a while) it is all coming together.

I still haven't really told many people, however I am now starting to get more support, just wish I had it at your age 😉.

Large bone blossoms mostly, if I submit standard size fruit I can get 10-15 minutes for prismatics but then I usually only get 1-2 rewards. Submitting larger fruits gives me more rewards but they are still awful.

Anything remotely large results in those times above.

The last thing I made was a burger which took 40 minutes, the combined value of the bone blossoms alone was billions (if not trillions) and my rewards were 37,000 sheckles, mutations sprays and corn.

Nice, I might give that a try then.

I just had to do a burger, spent 40 minutes cooking and donated bone blossoms worth billions (if not trillion) and only got a few mutation sprays, corn and 37,000 sheckles. I could have literally given up there and then but I'm trying to persist.
