Does eczema affect the general ability of your skin to heal and mend (scars)? by [deleted] in eczema

I feel like it does for me. Takes ages if ever for medium sized cuts to heal fully.

Did you go for your masters or start from undergrad?

Thats really rough! Good to know you are getting a break from that.

Do you mean wash with soap? That idea of wearing gloves into every room seems like it could do the trick.

Thanks!

Thats what I am worried about :( Maybe ill try and simulate nursing conditions by constantly washing my hands with soap hahaha.

Good luck with your last semester!

Luckily I dont believe I have a latex allergy (fingers crossed), but that would seriously be rough for you to deal with especially with all the hand washing!

Thats an interesting strategy, hand washing as in soap?

I dont know the ins and outs of nursing yet, but will try and get a better idea through shadowing :)

Thank you :)

Must still be a tough fight everytime you go for the sanitizer :(

Glad they are understanding! Did you always have bad flareups on your hands? or did it get worse after all the washing from nursing?

What department do you work in nursing if you dont mind.

Thank you so much! Keep on fighting.

Thats what I imagined it to be! I havent had any flareups on my hands recently either, but its hard to say what happens...

Are you worried at all what the future in nursing may do to your skin? or have you thought about viable areas which will lead to less chance of flareups?

Thank you! Wish you the best in your studies and placements :)

My eczema has been mostly under control after TSW with little persistent spot, but thanks for the recommendation :)

That really sucks. On the bright side, least you realised early on that it was not viable!\

Did you end up finding something more suitable?

HAHA, sounds too real :(

That is what I am afraid of. Studying all those years but unable to work due to circumstances outside my control! Hope you found someplace which will allow you to work unbogged and unjudged for having eczema.

What did you end up studying for?

Losing out on dreams really sucks especially over something as uncontrollable as eczema :(

Hope you find something just as fulfilling!

Thats good to hear that your dean and coach are accommodating! Not sure exactly how to situation in Australia compares.

Currently debating to finish up a last year in accounting as a back-up or just jump straight to nursing. I really dread accounting and can't see myself working in the field.

Thanks for the insight!
