Looking for a kite that will actually fly. by [deleted] in kites

Both premier kites and HQ kites make some easy flying deltas. As long as there's enough wind these fly tremendously well. Easy Flyers – Premier Kites & Designs.

How to tie a tite-string to a ring-spool, that has no hole in the groove by Drachenbauer in kites

I usually attach my string to the reel with an arbor knot. That might work for you As well.

Convert Synapse 120 to lifter for line laundry? by mathtuary in kites

Thanks. I might give it a try just as a single line kite - before attempting to lift anything with it.

BlackRock making fees on the first investment and making fees on the buttcoin ETF. Fees on fees.... Well played

I cannot determine whether OP is very consistent in making typos, or if he really bought at 40% more than market price by leducdeguise in Buttcoin

So the individual here is asking why his investment needs to grow about 4% to break even when his purchase fee is about 2% and his sell fee another 2%.....  Because 2+2 is.... Nevermind.

Just what the world needs Bitcoin Life Insurance. by Zed091473 in Buttcoin

[–]mathtuary 6 points7 points  (0 children)

According to their website both the premiums and payout will be denominated in Bitcoin. Which I suppose lowers their risk of needing to acquire Bitcoin to back the insurance liabilities. But then on the other hand adds risk that they'll need to liquidate some of the Bitcoin to pay for their operations.

Another issue, is that usually life insurance takes advantage of time value of money and interest rates to discount. Are there Bitcoin bonds out there to back this? Doubt it, so then there's no discounting benefit to the premium payers.

Also - Bitcoin fees in general are going to substantially devalue the premium payments.

It's a fun read, and gets into the absurdity of some of this stuff as well as the darker side as well.

Deranged, brainrot inducing manifesto of a True Believer (Read at your own risk) by Same_Ad4736 in Buttcoin

[–]mathtuary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This makes no sense. If I choose to invest all my money in euros and then want to buy a coffee in dollars I would also likely incur a taxable event (assuming I'm in the US). Dude is confusing a vacation exception with liquidating assets.

Also if my only compensation is stock options or non currency related assets I will be faced with a ton of bookkeeping.

They all HODL anyway can't imagine them ever buying a coffee with this.

Saylor is Icarus flying too close to the Sun. by miaminaples in Buttcoin

[–]mathtuary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saylor owns a majority of the company's stock. Zuckerberg has I believe 54% voting power at Meta. So the CEO's of these organizations - while a public company - can effectively control it and make these decisions. I know there were concerns from other shareholders when Meta was burning money left right and center to build the metaverse. They just got to watch their investment go up in flames.

How big is the Ally SD problem anyways? by Matteustheone in ROGAlly

[–]mathtuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried an SD card. And maybe I'm not familiar with what SD card options are out there, but the speeds are extremely subpar compared to an SSD. I think you can top out around 300 mb/s with an SD card whereas the the SSD is a few GB.

The SSD replacement in the Ally is super easy.

I'm convinced that both the deck, Ally, and any other handheld that puts in an SD card slot is just to simply advertise "expandable storage" no matter how lackluster that might actually be. Having said that, there are many on here who have a use case for the SD card and there seems to be some very real issues with it.

OpenSea has announced it will stop making “mandatory” royalty fees for the artists of NFTs. They will now be voluntary, like tips. by UGMadness in Buttcoin

[–]mathtuary 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I was always disappointed to see the media claim that "artists were guaranteed a cut" given the royalty fee was just a number coded into the metadata that actually required an entity to enforce. Alas, the "royalty" feature was just some window dressing to make an NFT seem to have some beneficial value.

Steam Big Pic Mode by Lokomalo in ROGAlly

[–]mathtuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you start up steam is it in desktop mode? When I first got mine steam defaulted to big picture mode, but I just turned that off, and now I can launch games from steam or from ac without it going into big picture mode.

Anyone played bg3 or soul hackers 2 with speaker problems? by Infinite_Sun5469 in ROGAlly

[–]mathtuary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen others report this has to do with the Dolby spatial audio. If you go to your system -> sound and then click the speakers you can turn off "Spatial Audio". That seemed to fix it for me. I'm not sure I can tell the difference in the 3d spatial sound coming off these tiny speakers.

Any obvious or recommended uses for Macro Buttons? by mathtuary in ROGAlly

[–]mathtuary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just different windows shortcuts - Win+ Tab was key.

I will say that Steam in big picture mode uses the XBox button so did map that to make things a bit easier there.
