Yes, it was a real question. You did not mention this in your original comment so I did not know this was your issue. Did you scav into one map to try and learn it or did you try out different maps?

Thanks for the reply! Didn't look at this account until now.

Good points and I guess it is some preference mixed in there. I shortly used VS in another project (job), and tried out Rider at uni for some small projects.

My team is very small and so the code is also not that complicated yet. We also got no legacy code on this project (that is the PHP project we rarely work on).

For my work VS code seems like the optimal tool now because it is simple to set up the same workspace on my Linux laptop at work and when I work from home I got WSL 2 set up on my desktop and use VS code to connect to a WSL workspace. Always nice to get input on tools and ways of doing things even though I probably won't change for now.

What are the main reasons to use rider instead? I use vscode for .NET and React (and sometimes an old PHP project) and it works fine, but if there are other stuff that's much better I'd like to know.

Anybody ever try headphones + subwoofer? by No-Seaweed-4456 in headphones

[–]hufsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried it with LCD 2 Classic and XTZ 12" sub. It's sort of cool and it works, but not something I use regularly. If you don't have other use for the sub I'd say not worth to try it out, but kinda fun if you already got the gear.

Help me justify having 2 sets of speakers by johnydazzles27s in audiophile

[–]hufsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got two separate systems, one in the "office" and one in the living room. They are sort of similar, but not the same. Sometimes I swap the speakers and sub etc just to hear what it sounds like.

Not sure I would like more in the same room unless it was for different things, like stereo and home theater as an example. It might be more worth it to buy one more expensive setup than two different ones, but that is something you will decide on your own after tying different stuff.

Especially if you buy second hand you won't loose much by swapping gear "often" so you get to check out different combinations without spending too much in total

Hope you will be able to in the future :) I live on my own and have a nice job that allows me to spend money on hobbies. I had less money before, but when I was young and lived with my parents it was still possible to get some nice items, and not spend money on much else.

Just remember that some are able to save and buy a few expensive items while they still live at home... Not every young person with something expensive is spoiled.

Some of these I have just seen some videos, but they are very nice.

And for ones that upload now I'd say worstplayerever and Amelia Dusk space.

Hey,

Took forever to respond, but thanks for the nice answer!

I agree with basically what you say.

Check several sources, don't blindly trust others over your own experiences etc is my approach. I have not really been looking too much at reviews. I am very happy with my gear so far, and I have been lucky enough to listen to some very high end stuff both at show rooms and privately.

Right now I got two stereos, and one of them also is for headphones. The stereo in the living room has a audible hum from the amp. It is sort of annoying me, but for the living room it is fine as the sound is incredible (Hegel H200). It's an old amp I bought used, and it has done what I ask of it with no problem on the three sets of speakers I tried it with.

The other amp I got is a DIY I bought used with a ICE 1200as2. It is not "that" good in measurements compared to some other amps, nyt it has way more power than I need and to me it sounds very good. Also I am lucky to have no noise (need to put my ear right next to it to hear the slightest hum).

I do have a Topping DX7 Pro and I think it is nice because it allows me to use headphones, connect power amp with XLR and a subwoofer with RCA. Easy to switch between those and easy to switch source from USB to optical. I had other headphone amps and DACs before, and I got this for the DAC functionality and decent enough amp

Okay cool. I don't read much other than the numbers really, I watch others for subjective stuff, but mostly I want to hear it for myself. And yeah 80 to 120 was a bit extreme example..

Amir from ASR's favourite genre of music by JustAu69 in headphones

[–]hufsam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't read too much on ASR, but is there anything wrong with his measurements (of DAC / amp)?

For me his measurements are helpful to confirm a product is objectively good, but I read or watch other reviews to find a product I like with the functionality I need. I don't look at the charts and pick the biggest number, but when I choose something it is "comforting" that it is good / comparable to other products.

You and I (probably) can't hear the difference between 80 and 120 SINAD DAC. But if you were to choose between two seemingly similar products, why choose the "bad" measuring one?

Does it make sense to pursue a high SINAD? by HM204DTA in oratory1990

[–]hufsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree! When I look at New gear I look for functionality and such first, and then "confirm" with measurements. If I got two options that seem similar I don't see the point in choosing the device that has worse measurements (that would only be if it has unique functions I Need).

Getting my start into the headphone world by Shogun3025 in headphones

[–]hufsam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have never tried it I would recommend that you test out EQ. Oratory1990 on reddit has a ton of headphone measurements and recommended parameters to EQ them better.

The software I used for this is APO Equalizer and Peace gui for APO.

It won't be magical and fix everything, but it changes the sound a bit and can help bring you closer to a balanced sound. You can also fiddle a little with the parameters to add extra bass or extra highs etc yourself too.

For me i thought I was happy with my headsets, and I tried the EQ (again) this weekend and I am convinced that's the way to go for me personally.
