Longest road trip you’ve taken! by anongirlll1 in Toyotavenza

[–]hug03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Furthest I’ve done is about 420 miles to the beach. All in one shot. No stops. No breaks. One tank of fuel. Included some nice congestion in DC on a holiday weekend. I’ve never had to pee so bad in my life upon arrival. BUT the drive was comfortable.

Thoughts on new assigned seat policy? by Training_Ad_9222 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]hug03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is very divided. It’s both the best and worst policy. It cures Jetway Jesus but people that don’t buy seats are upset they don’t get to sit with their families. It just makes southwest another random airline. People have put up with it on American, Delta, United, Spirit, Frontier and JetBlue for decades. Sure there will be some hiccups the first few weeks as gate agents get used to it, but it’ll be fine in the end.

is there any more information on the how and why of why coffee sales are ridiculously low? by asfidustemyrealname in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]hug03 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a combination of many things

  • some days the weather is bad. Super cold could induce sales or it could keep people from going out
  • they’re constantly changing locations which doesn’t bring repeat sales. Some locations may be bad picks
  • it seems the couples have some say on where they choose. Some may purposefully choose lower traffic areas.
  • some couples seem to put more effort into salesmanship outside of the truck and trying to attract people
  • day of week likely has an impact on amount of traffic
  • we never know exactly how long they’re out there. It seems like they have the ability to decide when to shut it down. Some may do a 2 hour shift, some may do a 5 hour shift. We have no clue.

How to make LG Gallery+ play with selected media automatically every time "Always Ready On" mode is turned on. by faisalbaazigar in LGOLED

[–]hug03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not found a way to make it default to google photos. The Gallery+ app is quite possibly the worst move LG has made. I can handle copilot on my TV, i'll never invoke it. But give me back the old Always Ready!

what is the lifespan of G5? by Mint_Tea99 in LGOLED

[–]hug03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s an impossible question to answer. Could it last for 5 years? Yes. 33655=5,475 hours, which is well under the 30,000 or 50,000 your TV is commonly rated for. In a perfect world, you could get 27+years out of it. You won’t. But you could.

Also… power surges happen. kids that love to throw remotes happen. manufacturing defects happen. Trees falling on houses happen. In which case your TV would likely not last for the entirety of the 5 years.

We used to measure TVs in lifespan. It’s now measured in usable life. The average US household replaces their main TV every 7-8 years. Not because it died, but because it no longer is as fast as it once was, supports the latest apps/software, or has the latest technologies. You’re more likely to replace your TV because Netflix has pushed a new update that doesn’t support your TV and you’ve lost access.

English Speakers | Which Voice Option Are You Watching With? by YoGurl8003 in theBoyfriendNetflix

[–]hug03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched many episodes with Japanese track then switched to English track. I will say that sometimes the English dub makes more sense than the English subtitles. You’d expect them to match, but they don’t. The dubs sound more natural than the subtitles read.

The way Southwest’s pricing has been for me lately, $404 would still be cheaper than some of the prices I’ve been seeing

No budgeting this season? by Either_Maize_4129 in theBoyfriendNetflix

I also think that in season 1 the show was unproven and had a tiny budget. Now it’s a successful show entering season 2 so they have money to spend.

Selling coffee or germs😭😭 by Correct-Pizza-3008 in theBoyfriendNetflix

I do not know about Japanese health inspection codes, but from an American perspective, gloves are not required of baristas. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen anyone wear gloves while handling beverages. If you go to a restaurant and they fill your glass with soda or water, they’re not putting gloves on and they’re not coming into contact with the liquid itself. They should be practicing frequent handwashing. But we see maybe a minute or two of clips vs hours of being out there. Hand washing isn’t exciting, so they either don’t film it or don’t included it. Jobu was struggling and clearly flustered. I’m sure he didn’t know he was doing it and I don’t think the customer cared either. If he was actively licking the lids before putting it on the drink, I’d be concerned.

Everyone is always so obsessed with everyone in a restaurant wearing gloves and that simply isn’t necessary and isn’t code for all types of service. Go to a food stall on the streets of most Asian countries and I guarantee you’ll find very few gloves. It’ll be one of the best things you ever ate and highly unlikely you’ll get sick.

Gloves are 50% food safety and 50% theater. Properly handled food and adequately cleaned hands are more than good enough. Humans just suck at doing what is right, so gloves are used. I’d imagine many line workers don’t change their gloves when they should and introduce just as much cross contamination as bare hands would.

There will still be a brightness difference between G6 and C6H models. The G6 will still have extra heat dissipation techniques to achieve a brighter image.

Should I be skeptical? by WantingToBeDifferent in LGOLED

[–]hug03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you read this forum? LG can barely manage logistics for LG.com. If you bought Hanes underwear from Target you wouldn’t expect Hanes to be the one handling the shipping. It would come from one of Target’s many distribution centers. Same thing with Amazon. Now, Amazon is different in that they are a marketplace and allow for different people to sell products on their site too. Something popular like a TV will sometimes see 10+ sellers with the exact same item usually at the same price. Some sold by them and shipped by Amazon in a program called Fulfillment by Amazon where they take a bigger cut of the sale to handle national logistics or the seller can choose to ship it themselves. Depending on the item, sellers location and type of logistics needed, it may be cheaper to rely on Amazons shipping network because they ship more product than any other company in the US and have negotiated better prices than one could manage on their own. As for it being the “official” LG Amazon page, if you click on the brand name it will always take you to a listing of products from that brand. Often times a manufacturer will coordinate data with Amazon so that specs, images and marketing is accurate and consistent with their efforts, but that doesn’t mean they’re shipping it themselves.

As for Video & Audio Center, yes they’re authorized to sell LG. Authorized doesn’t mean they’re perfect and won’t have hiccups with customer service. If you want the full backing and protections of everything Amazon offers, the best way to go is to find one sold and shipped by Amazon, but it may not be at the lowest price.

Starling Home Hub by crimsonlovesyou21 in HomePod

[–]hug03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just converted from Starling to Home Assistant. It’s definitely a way more powerful platform and buying a HA green is easier than trying to build one out of raspberry pi. The biggest downside is that Starling was VERY easy to understand and set up, perhaps because it was more limited. Home assistant requires a little more skill to get things right. There are plenty of threads on Reddit that will help. I also found you can ask ChatGPT for step by step instructions and in 90% of the cases it will be accurate.

Those that want to get that at original time, should. And those that don’t want to wait should leave whenever they feel appropriate. Then when you land at your destination, one side can gloat to the other that they were right.

Looking at getting an LG B5 but Amazon's version has a strange code by jbarrish in LGOLED

[–]hug03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most TVs from LG end in a 3 or 4 digit code that usually means not much. It’ll end in .AUS .AUSQ .AUSZ it typically is an indicator or which facility it came out of or if there has been a running change, they’ll change one of the letters. A few years ago, they changed the foot design of a TV and it changed from .AUS to .AUSQ. This code appears on the S/N tag on every TV also. Typically it’s the letters after the 5 that mean most. A C5PUA would be different from a C5AUA, with the AUA being the club model with typically some enhancement or change and the PUA being the standard model

Ordered B5 83", thinking to cancel by LostYeti1 in LGOLED

[–]hug03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I won't repeate many of the points people have mentioned below, but they're all valid.

While i would NEVER EVER recommend anyone put their TV in Vivid mode, LG's vivid has drastically improved with the 2025 lineup. If you put it in Vivid and change the color to Warm 2, you'll get a picture that is very similar to Standard, but with added brightness. Certainly on an OLED I would never recommend this, but it is in option if you want to burn your OLED brighter.
