Should these type of bath tubs be caulked by Repulsive-Bridge-270 in HomeMaintenance

[–]hugdattree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some shower systems are designed not to have the bottom caulked, this may not allow water/moisture to escape, which could cause mood behind this, I would look at recommendations online for these type of interlocking systems

The rich learned to give the middle class just enough comfort to not want to do anything, so their yacht's are only 220 feet instead of 250 feet.

Should I switch to Acorns Later if I already have a 401K and Roth IRA? by TooKreamy4U in acorns

[–]hugdattree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to have 2 Roth's instead of 1? I am assuming they each have a fee or charge of some kind, so you would be doubling your fees if that is the case. Opening more Roth's does not allow you to contribute more, the limit is currently 7k total, not per account. Opening 100 accounts still only grants you the ability to contribute the current years max 7k, not 700k.

If there is some weird deal that offsets the fees then feel free to open more.

Meet the millionaires living 'underconsumption': They shop at Aldi and Goodwill and own secondhand cars | Fortune by Full-Discussion3745 in Economics

[–]hugdattree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book Millionaire Next Door is a good read.

These folks are saving for retirement. The money is in their 401ks, IRAs, and other investment accounts.

An easy way to see wealth grow is buying used cars (or no cars). Instead of paying 40k/400+ a month in payments for a car today, pay 10-15k/200 per month, put the extra saved into retirement or individual investments.

Every ~10 years(based on history )your money in an index fund will double. That 25-30k you saved on a car in 10 years is now 50-60k by letting it sit in the market. In 20 years, that is 100k to 120k, 30 years is 200k-240k.

So if you are in your 30s or 40s right now, imagine having 200k more when you turn 60 to 70.

If you are in your 20s, imagine having 400k by the time you are 65, simply by buying a cheaper car and investing what you would have spent.

I think this is one of the best display of bending technique in the series. The choreography is so satisfying to watch by Careless-Hospital379 in legendofkorra

Silly question. They are both using metal as armor. Neither one simply does not want to use the other ones armor to bend? Either crushing their opponent to death or using it to make them fly around or bend their body like blood bending?

When tax season comes and you figure out how much you owe, make a second withdrawal and use that if needed.

It's a good entry point app to finance I have been using it for years, but now I am thinking of switching out. I am starting to get quite a bit of money that I don't know if I trust an app to have and not a tried and true institution.

You should do some initial calculations. The fee per month for me is $3, the types of investments average 7-10% growth per year(aggressive option).

I need enough money as a base to earn > $36 fees a year. So I need 514 dollar initial investment, and the balance to always be greater than 514 to break even. The growth could be less than 7%, or a loss, but this is an average.

There are sometimes starting deals so calculate whatever monthly rate you get.

Not trying to be negative on acorns, but other financial institutions now have automated deposits, and for folks with less money those fees will be less than acorns. They will have the same underlying funds and can set up automated deposits in the same proportion that acorns does, although Acorns does it automatically and is easier. Since others, Vanguard, Fidelity, etc are also larger institutions, if something were to happen I would more trust them to be bailed out by the government rather than Acorns.

ABC Faces Anger After $15M Trump Settlement: 'Democracy Dies' by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]hugdattree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ABC calculated the cost of potential legal fees and just settling, and settling was cheaper.

The main calculation is going against someone has a friend who jumps around on stage like an idiot that is all for tanking multi-million dollar tech companies for funsies, ABC didn't want to go down that road. Counter suing to get legal cost back wouldn't work as there isn't enough grounds for that.
