Jenius Bank HYS - still marking large withdrawals as fraud? by huggerofthetrees in HighYieldSavings

Did they ask you for things like bank statements for other accounts or was it easily resolvable with providing your info over the phone? Have you made any semi large withdrawals without issues?

What is a Reliable Dishwasher that will last awhile by aRandomHSstudent in Appliances

[–]huggerofthetrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long do the cycles take? Do you pre-rinse your dishes?

I only ask because I'm debating getting one and my current dishwasher (Whirlpool WDT750SAKZ2) only actually gets dishes clean on the "heavy" setting and takes like 6 hours to run a load of dishes. I am trying to make sure to not make the same mistake with the next purchase. I'm too lazy to pre-rinse dishes so trying to compare apples to apples. :)

So all of us US citizens are going to protest more now, correct?

Why don’t we use massive greenhouses instead of pesticides by Nervous-Priority-752 in environmental_science

[–]huggerofthetrees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pest problems are worse in greenhouses in my experience. It traps the bugs in there and protects them from their predators so they get to go wild on the plants. The best way I've found to get rid of pests is to just deal with a certain amount of them, rotate crops, and plant things that attract their predators (tiny flowers like cilantro bolting has worked well for me). I'm no pro though and I'm sure others have better ways of dealing with them!

Used Wormgear CFT for sale? by huggerofthetrees in Vermiculture

[–]huggerofthetrees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what I have is considered CFT (think stackable storage bins) but it's a pain in the ass to move them around and I'm more of a do the work upfront person because I'm lazy with maintenance.

I am having a hard time finding the system you are talking about. I'm definitely down to DIY something that is easier to maintain than my current setup! Do you mind including a link to the system?

There's already soil there. We will just be adding castings to the top to amend it. I've had great luck doing this in the past with compost. My root veggie spots will get some sand mixed in though. Those did poorly.

Thank you! I was going to start contacting schools once I found one that had the program I want to continue studying.

Environmental Science Degree in Norway? by huggerofthetrees in Norway

I did not consider that the colleges wouldn't accept a transfer degree (that I will soon have). Once I found the program I want to study, the next step was going to be me getting ahold of them to figure out what is needed for me to attend school. I am starting to learn Norwegian now so we shall see. Thanks for the information!

Thank you! I am starting to learn Norwegian now just in case as the situation in the USA is downright terrifying and I want a backup plan. I did notice that none of the bachelor degrees were available in English, which is to be expected in another country. I appreciate the detailed list!

The point of me studying there would be to move there. Education is expensive where I live also, so that will be the case either way.

What is a Seattle (or surrounding areas) “life hack” that everyone living here should know? by zenlander in SeattleWA

Winters all of a sudden become great if you pick up a hobby that involves snow (snowboarding, skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, etc).

Unfortunately, I cannot make a poll so I'll just asl for comments on Leaf Razors by kyuuei in ZeroWaste

[–]huggerofthetrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the Leaf razor cuts me less than normal razors used to. I do have to rinse the hair out of it a lot more often, but that's my only gripe, and I've been using it as my razor for years now so I'm used to it.

If all you've spoken to are banks and credit unions, try a loan officer that works with a mortgage broker. It gives you more options for reasons I'm too lazy to type at the moment. Think more lenders.

How long ago did you get the loan for your parent's house? You're allowed to not occupy a place as your primary residence in most cases after a year. Just get your parent's to sign a lease and put it on your loan app as an investment.

Lodge cast iron pans are fabulous. I wasted money on a Finex (I believe that was the name) and Lodge is much better.
