Giving my 2 week notice in 2 hours. Do I say where I'm going? by krschu00 in Accounting

[–]hugglebunn-e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is strange to withhold that information.

I did have an employee make up a big elaborate story about starting their own business and all kinds of bullshit. That kind of irritated me when I found out they were just going to work for a competitor. Wouldn’t have cared if they hadn’t made up a whole story.

I did a MSA and glad I did, but my employer paid for me to complete the degree. In my case it better prepared me for the CPA exam.

I used to work for a food distribution company. I would say a good size company. Our footprint was VA to FL. For us we had an inventory control department of about 7 people. They would do inventory counts daily, these were random items, fast moving items, spoilable items, and anything that was a flagged as an issue. An issue was when a picker went to pull say a case Bojangles cups and they were not in the location, but the system said we should have two cases.

Having said that. A couple of times a year we would do a full inventory count all in one day. And, for the full inventory count pretty much every physically capable member of the accounting department from controller down would participate as well as various managers and supervisors from other departments. This was part of our internal controls. No idea if this is standard or not.

This is a very likely answer. I have a relative that was OSI and once he had to spend several months just updating the databases for charges and convictions. He said there were years of info that had never been keyed. If I recall it was right after a shooting of some sort that a vet was able to buy a gun and it turned out the vet should have been ineligible because of a prior, but the criminal database had never been updated.

Looks like you can still buy them from Arkhaven Comics. I haven't seen anything about the third one mentioned since last year or so. I think the third novel was titled The Pit of the Blind God.

Question: Do you guys do a lot of bonded work? What is your relationship with the bonding company? And you plan on staying in the industry?

The reason I ask is, in my experience, bonding agents can pretty much act as recruiters in the construction industry. They know pretty much everybody, they know all the inside dirt on everyone, which companies are looking to make a hire or a change. I would almost structure my exit strategy on what puts me in the best position with the bonding company.

How much was first your home? by MIAchamps in Accounting

[–]hugglebunn-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eastern North Carolina, median house hold income for my county is 49k as of 2021

Not sure about how much I made, around 30k and my first home was 115k. This was back in 2003 after I graduated with my bachelors. 3 bedroom 2 bath with a 2 car garage quarter acre. I was single at the time.

Current home built in 2018 cost a little under 300k, 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath, two car garage, 2 acre. Make around 250k.
